Hope He gets top five at Red Bud
Reed sounded more tired than bummed in the interview. There was not one mention of the mysterious "virus" that has been the excuse for him riding at sub level up until now...why? Reading between the lines, I can certainly see Reed & TwoTwo on a different OEM next year. Hope it works for him!
The Shop
Why do they put wood chips down on the track? Does it help absorb the rain?
get back to it Chad whatever you do - be it bike change or whatever.
He's had it all on his shoulders for a long, long, time.
I wonder if it's any fun at all for the guy anymore.

He'll come around. One thing I hate though. He says "there is always speculation in our sport" as if it is a nuisance. Well, there wouldn't be speculation if riders would be forthcoming with information. So, he says the knee isn't 100%. Why not say that weeks ago, when the conspiracy theory was his health or sickness of some sort?
Riders get mad when speculation happens, its not just Chad but all the big dogs seem to get pissed when the media "speculates" as to what is wrong when there obviously is something wrong. I know some dumb asses, probably even on this board would probably say riders are making excuses when results are bad and they do say why, but I think being open and honest would be more fair to true fans.
Again, this is just a observation and my personal beliefs. I know Chad will be back to being Chad and it is awesome to hear that it is indeed the knee and not retirement on his mind.
It sounds like he's been trying to land a top rider to carry the team forward for awhile, but if I recall he couldn't get Dean because Honda wouldn't back it, and now Tomac is going to be the cornerstone of the Geico 450 initiative. There's not a lot of young guys who can perform at the level Reed is looking for in one to step in, and those were lost opportunities. Is a machine change as much a case of concluding that Big Red leaving 22 Racing out on a limb as opposed to whatever his own frustrations are with the bike and the season?
I'm jus' guessin'...
But as to your comment, Geico and Honda itself are the only other Big Teams running Honda. It almost seems more likely that Honda would bail and pass the Torch to Geico rather than Geico change brands.
And if that was so, that could be doubly pissing off'edness for 22 Racing.
On the actual "Honda" front: I'm in total agreement with you.
Pit Row
There is something I had heard from a very respectable source about what exactly is going on , but agreed to keep my mouth shut about it until Chad or the team says something.
Just listen to what he says.....it's in there.
Just speculation looking at it from the outside. Maybe Reed didn't want Tomac.
Jeffro! I did't think you were a "I know but I can't say anything" type of poster.
This is what I heard, but I was sworn to secrecy but he did allude to it so,

HAHAHA- Just kidding. He'll be back,
They groom talent from the amateur ranks and maintain first right of refusal- a big advantage, right?
Nothing against Reed at all, but it's difficult for a 2-year-old team to extend a competitive offer to a proven winner. Wilson already got burned from one of those deals. I'm pretty sure a lot of these pro contracts say, "If we lose our backing then we can terminate". The owners will not offer a personal guarantee (for good reason).
