I know this will bring out the haters, but I enjoy watching the WMX riders. They may not run as fast as the boys....so what!

GET THIS !!
New rules for 2012:

Section 2 - Race Rules and Procedures

2.16 Qualifying
b. All entered WMX riders will be automatically seeded into the moto race.

2.17 Race Program
b. The WMX class will race one (1) moto which will be 15 minutes plus one (1) lap. The official race length will be determined once the white flag is displayed to the leader, followed by the checkered flag.

This sucks for lot's of people.""Travel all over the USA for one 15 min moto"""........

Come on AMA and MX sports.....get real

They're lucky to even be a part of the show. This is a move in the right direction by AMA and MX Sports.

As a sponsor for WMX Pro Heather Lockwood this comes as a total drag .. I have supported a few WMX pros in the past few years and still have to laugh at how some people hate them .. I am sure they will end up like the girls in the FIM and will go away .. seems the norm . Oh well I appreciate their heart and their drive .

I'm kinda bummed, too.

I'm looking forward to WMX eveolving into a faster and more competitive class.

I get the feeling the manufacturers have "Backed Away" from it...for this to have happened.

Jus' my opinion...

Yep, Hopefully it's gone next year.
Ya I'm thinking the same thing. It's not very interesting to watch.

How much do the top WMX women make (Patterson Geiger, Fiolek). I can't imagine how there's enough money in it to make a career.

We are adding a pair of LCQs for the 250 and 450 classes and there is just not enough time in the day for two full WMX motos. This will also help the WMX get some TV coverage. And the last moto of the day was also in an almost-empty park, and the tracks were brutal by that time of day...

If it doesn't work out like this, back to the drawing board, but I hope is helps get the girls more attention and sponsors by getting back on TV.

I'm in the minority on this board, but I like the WMX. Sucks that the series is getting taken away little by little. IMO either have the series the right way or not at all

More racing from the best in the world is not a bad thing. If that means less WMX so be it.

If they where as strong as people want to think they'd be able to host their own events.

I'm a old school MX racer and I remember when the people across the pond used to think the same about US MX.

Yet we proved them wrong.

When they can run an event all by themselves I'll be the first to congratulate them.

That's a joke, right? What the hell would you need 2 LCQs in motocross for?

Because you need 1 LCQ for the 250f class and another for the 450 class...

guys its a 'qualifying' LCQ race, taking the guys who dont qualify through the time qualies into a race for 1 or 2 (not sure how many) spots on the gate.

well there are 2 classes..

and if WMX gets paid the same for 1/4 of the work, and gets on tv, well i'd consider that a bonus!

Are we not just cutting a few riders from normal qualifying to open a space on the gate for the new LCQ's?

Yeah, I get what it is guys, but I don't get why you would need it, if you aren't in the top 40 after qualifying, you don't race. Plain and simple. I guess if they are going to start putting a little SX into MX though, they might as well start running a 30min + 2 lap main in SX.

I will agree that it is a shame for the girls to only have a 15 minute moto. However, this change is going to add two LCQ's to the mens classes which will be much more exciting than a girls moto at the end of the day when everyone is only fighting to get their stuff packed up and head home. It is a step in the right direction for motocross as a whole.

how did the nationals get ran with 2 lcqs a couple years ago and still have 2 wmx motos?

further more reason to go back to 2 day events. its dumb that you try to squeeze everything into 1 day and have to start screwing the women out of racing.

A lot of you asked / begged for changes.....and DC is trying to implement them.....and some people still bitch. You gotta start some where. At least he isn't sitting still and not listening to anyone.

BTW.....the LCQ's if I remember right were going to have the top 37 guys qualify from the timed practice. The last 3 gate pics were going to be the top 3 riders in the LCQ. I think that's what I heard.

Having to be at the two day events with a racer, I can tell you the one day events are way better.

How can you have a LCQ without even having a Q. The old way was better and made the weekend more enjoyable. Plus now the smell of premix is gone and next they will tell us Big Foot is just a joke.

China ruined the US.
