Building a mx track

Hello. I’m wanting to build a track for our family to ride on but need some info or ideas from people who have done their own. The land I want to build on has lots of hills and flat areas. My problem is just getting started. I’ve raced since the 80’s so I’ve been on lots of tracks but can’t come up with a solid design without changing it hundreds of times. Anyone have any designs they’ve done or tips on what obstacles best make a good track? Thanks in advance.

i would say just ride around, without a trck in mind. find what flows naturally and kind of rough up the ground to get kind of a lay out. then from there you can build up or down what you want, but first things first, finding the natural flow of the land...also helps to know what style of track you want. turn track/national type mx/supercross etc...

If you're truly unsure of what to do, or if it's overwhelming to layout a track in entirety, just make an oval and your boredom will drive you to add a jump, then a corner, then...on and on.

Make a turn track at first and add jumps later.

As a few others have said make a turn track first. One thing to also look out for is places that may have extra dirt , hump or something so when you do make a jump some of the dirt will be there and just need shaped up.

Just pick a design and go with it. I built a track on my back acreage. It's not that difficult to change it if you're not happy.

pro tip: even if you build a cool track, you will still want to make changes/redo it often. it's like adult version of legos. try to mimic obstacles youve seen at other tracks/nationals/etc using the terrain you have. have fun.

Let the terrain dictate the design. Makes it much easier to build if you work with the land.
I built a very nice national caliber track on my property that flows really well with the land.i had to work with.

Make sure to use Crayola sand for the sand section. Here's my 2 oldest doing track prep.
