It's not as easy as I thought it would be. I've quickly figured out shaping berms is not easy with a tractor sporting only a front bucket and not enough horsepower. But I'll tell you I've rode that John Deere hard and it doesn't miss a beat. Anyhow, here's some pics. Obviously it still needs lots of work and a lot more clay. Weather permitting I should be getting at least five more loads delivered this coming Saturday.

This is the answer, if budget allows - get some mates to chip in and in return they get to ride the track. You can get the donkey work done in a couple of days and then use your John Deere for the fine tuning.

I appreciate the tractor suggestions, but those are out of my price range. More than anything I just suck at berm shaping. I'm gonna get my friend and track builder guru to come by and fine tune the place (yes, Wade, I'm talking about AA).

For sure! I wanted to see how to progress looked. Looks like you have a fairly decent spread! AA is gonna have to pop the shirt off and start lippin’ booters. Does he still spin laps occasionally?

It is tough with a tractor, I have be there. I would get the berm built up and roughly shaped then finish with a rake a shovel. Not as bad as it sounds

That looks like fun! I love track building almost as much as riding them when they're done. It looks great already.

Wade, come visit and ride my track and AA's place. You know my place is just three miles from NFMX, right? Think I told you that.

Bikes make good lines ......just lay it out & start riding it.... Enhance track as you go....some of my favorite practice tracks started out with no equipment at all, just lay out a nice course & start riding it...

I only have a tractor, but I think it's worth it to rent a dozer or skid steer to build jumps and turns. I pay the rental and my riding buddy runs the dozer and skid steer. He runs that stuff for a living and builds up everything better and faster than I can. I have a 100 hp tractor and it still takes forever to build anything.

I started with turn track then rented bobcat for small jumps and it was great ride everytime. After sometime we build it full MX track and had fun untill nextdoor people started complains and track was gone... now I wish i had corner track left Smile
My advice is just ride much as you can and build more jumps just one by one. Keep corners soft and you will move dirt to outside by riding. Own track is dream keep it going!

This, rent one for 2 days. I hired Vmac tracks and glad I did. Very safe doubles, long sand whoop section and a bunch of off camber and suspension upsetting bumps before turns to create big braking bumps.

Plus now I have a deep pond filled with crappie.

i would start stripping some of the ground around the track, build all the jumps with the shitty dirt then put a foot of clay on it.
this is what i did saved me lots in the long run.

also where at in Ga are you i maybe able to get a loader and dozer out there and move some dirt for you guys

A man, a pile of dirt, an open-cab tractor, and the empty canvas of an open field. Old Milwaukee said it best:

"It just doesn't get any better than this"
