A bunch of my friends are talking about making a budget 125 race happen for the last Masters mx race at budds creek this September.
$3k budget all in. Bike parts etc.
125 stock bore only.
Who’s in? Take it back to the basics, and make Moto great again.
The masters series is an adult only series with 6 lap motos and a lot of track time.

I found a mint 2013 husky cr125 for 3k that I might get still. There’s plenty of clean 93-97 cr125s in the budget that are great bikes. Multiple 04-07 rms have popped up under the 3k mark.
It’s 100% doable. Will take some digging and negotiating though I’m sure!
And anyone with over 3k in their 125 come on out anyway. Imagine a full gate of 125s flash mob style at budds creek.
We can race open 2 stroke class so all ages are welcome.
Started at 5k and has since dropped the price a couple times and is now at 4k.
Nice looking bike too....bu im interested to see if he has to drop it anymore to move it
I am surprised 125s are overlooked by most Vet riders. The light weight and less power is easier on a aged body than a 60hp 450
not too many other offerings around here although the 2021 yz for $4,000 wouldn't be a bad deal really
I get what you’re saying but if you look hard enough you can find something decent for 2k and make it trust worthy with the next 1k.
It won’t be a 2022 factory edition, but that’s the entire point.

into the picture, then the bucks up machines show up.

Personally, the only advantage i see of the 144 is the ability to get a better start, and some added mid-range power.
125's can and sometimes do turn better laptimes than the 144 because of the longer spread of power.
The most fun I had at day in the dirt down south this year was battling for like 12th with two other guys on 125s in one of the open classes, during the last two laps we probably swapped that spot 25 times between the three of us just roasting our clutches in that sand.
