I cracked mine straight up and down when I was 19. Now 32. Non weight bearing for 2 months. Then a month in a walking boot. I got really good at ATV off road fury. I can tell you I have zero issues with it now. And don’t remember any issues once the boot came off. Just followed my doctors orders. A little PT and good to go. I can’t say how fast I would have got back on a bike or what that felt like. As I Hung it up after that for 10+ years to focus on my career.

Can't answer this question. I've always broken the Fibula by itself, or Tibia and Fibula together. How severe is the break? Surgery?

Once you stop being in pain, you'll start to forget about it. Give it time to heal. What's your Doc saying, twelve weeks? I'd start there.

I snapped mine right in the middle but it was a really clean break so I didn't need any hardware. Had a cast from my hip to my toes, that sucked! Just be careful and listen to doctors. Mine was really tender and sore for a while but then got back to normal (with a bone bump). Good luck.

I broke mine like that about 20 years ago. The surgeries are much better now. When u start PT. Try to get all the motion u can back in the joint

My buddy snapped his like that a couple years ago and he rides fine.

You will be riding in no time. Just in time for spring in the east

Funny thing is. Mine hurts like hell when i do dishes or clean the house Absolutely zero pain while riding or golfing.

I got a little sideways on a small double and planted my boot. My break was clean without shattering or crushing anything. It went back together cleanly and healed very quickly.
I left screws in. So much depends on how the bone breaks.

I broke both of my tibia's at the base two years ago, i broke them in may and was back on bike by early sept, following doctors orders and doing pt and waiting to ride, I ended up having a non union in one of the tibias and had to have it plated and screwed due to a rebreak at mini o's the same year. That break took less time to heal with the hardware inside of it. around 5 weeks non weight on the worse of the two and very light on the other, then was back to walking in boots then smaller braces. the nonunion was quicker only 4 weeks in splint/cast then to a ankle brace and at home therapy. (I was 16 years old during both of these) Both Times wear A-Star tech 7s

Shattered my right tib/fib doctor stopped counting at 40 pieces. It was a long recovery, was in the hospital for 3 weeks. 2 plates and 8 screws. Happened at age 15. However it barely effected my riding once I was healed. Boot selection was big for me, couldnt wear SG12s the padding inside the boot rubbed my plates weird. Ive won tons or races since then, can do distance running and even won a marathon last year. Didnt get the hardware removed either. Youll be alright bro

Did this a month ago.

Did this same break in 2010. Cased a double. 3 plates, 17 screws.
2 months non bearing. Got the hardware out 1-1/2 years later. I can’t run worth a darn, but can cycle and Moto.

I have broken my tibia twice and my fibula once on each foot. I healed up and was able to return to riding and racing. Once my right tibia was broken into 20 some pieces and almost lost the foot. Be patient and confident, things can work out well.

Depending on the severity of the break and what kind of fracture it is, you'll be non-weight bearing for a period of time. Your recovery will wholly depend on the nature of the fracture. What kind of fracture do you have? (e.g. displaced, non displaced, traverse or oblique)?

Of course, everyone is different in how the injury heals. Having the correct surgeon really helps. I almost got stuck with a "witch doctor". Ten years later, I still get nerve shooters down the side of my foot, and just enough range of motion to go hammer on my mountain bike. I was 48 when i had my injury, so healing time was not optimal. I think I "officially" retired again that time also. I have since fractured my hip and then later had a clean break on my other tib. Good times!
Now that i have that out of the way, I have a much different approach to my track days. My surgeon told me move it or lose it. I take that to heart and stay active. At the track week before and on the MTB on Sunday.

Lots of leg/ankle injuries here. I’m still healing from double leg break, the worst one being a Pilon Fracture of my left leg, which is a fracture of the Tib/Fib at the ankle joint. Crashed doing a NHHA race. Pretty complicated injury and recovery. I’m currently 8 months post surgery and can get through every day life ok. Ankle is still stiff and sore, doing PT twice a week still. Haven’t ridden or done anything physical yet except casual bike riding. About to start MTBing any day. Might get back on the dirt bike in december.

I had almost the same injury in 2005, almost exact same hardware. I was 43 at the time. About 6 months to start walking again (without the boot). Once I had the hardware removed (at about 9 months), it has not really been a problem for the past 15 years (knock on wood.)
