LeBig provided this update from Brian's dad for us after translating from French. Merci, LeBig.

“I would like to thank you all for caring for Brian. First of all, I’d like to say that Mathilde Musquin has been amazing through those very tough times. She’s managing the situation with great care. She is a guardian angel for Brian. Marvin is very worried about Brian as well. He went to see him and supports him too. In addition, Troy Lee Designs, KTM, and RedBull have also been very supportive. Tyler, [Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM] Team Manager, is with Brian all the time. Brian’s mom arrived Monday night in Tampa with his younger sister. He is surrounded by loved ones. Regarding the hospital he is in, staff personnel have been very attentive since Saturday. Before even getting to the hospital, the doctors were waiting for him, knowing exactly the extent of his injury. It was a priority for them. They even cleared the CT scan room in order to be able to go into surgery as fast as possible. Regarding his injury, Brian still doesn’t move his legs but today he gained a little bit of feeling in his back compared to yesterday. It gives us hope. We all are with him and we believe in him. Thank you again for Brian.”

So much love for the Musquin's as they have been through so much themselves. All the best for Brian as this is such a major problem he has to go through. Hoping and praying for his future as best as he can make out of all this.
Thanks for the update Gibby.

GuyB, is it possible to get an address for Brian ?? I'm not sending a Get Well Soon card, but I would like to send something that puts a smile on his face, and to let him know that I'm a fan of his. That's my way of...sending positive vibes.

Life's tough and very unpredictable, hope he finds the strength and guidance to overcome these obstacles. This sport is challenging, awesome, exciting and dangerous all in one. I guess that's what makes it appealing to us adrenaline junkies. I think the sport has outgrown the human body and progressed a little to far. Hope Brian finds solace in these days ahead.

Damn. I so hope the feeling keeps on coming back for Brian. There is obviously no time that an SCI isn't a tragic event, but this kid coming here to make his debut and have this happen in the first practice session just seems extra cruel.

Changing gears here, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Marvin calls it a career. I've had the thought before, especially with him missing this SX season with injury. Between his age, his own injuries, his brother Mickael's paralysis, and now Brian, I know what I'd do. He's had a great career. On top of that, I'm sure Mathilde being this close to Brian's injury (which is an awesome thing of her to do) is changing her support of Marvin's racing. How could it not?

For what can be a very, very cruel sport it’s amazing the amount of positive thoughts, we’ll done to Marv & Mathilde for stepping up.

Really hope for continued improvement, sending more good thoughts

Don’t sweat it. Downvotes mean absolutely zero to me.

Also, the focus here is Brian.

I don't have a bike right now - sold 'em all last year and of course I get the itch and start sniffing around for bikes. I told my gf about this story and said "this is exactly why I think I'm slow to get back into it. It's so damn sketchy and I'm 44 and maybe I shouldn't risk it."

I know all the stuff about doing what I love and I could die walking to the mailbox and all that...but still. Lord knows this is one risky sport. Poor kid - can't even imagine his fear right now or his parent's anguish.

Probably more than half the downvotes aren't related to the post, but instead to the poster. Someone just doesn't like GuyB, that's all. If you share strong opinions or piss someone off they will follow you around vital and downvote every post you make. That's why downvotes are pointless when they are anonymous.

On the flip side, some people don't want to be exposed when upvoting for something that's controversial, so they don't upvote at all. Or, they don't upvote a post they like because they simply don't like the poster.

Upvotes and downvotes should both be fully open or both fully anonymous. Not one open and one anonymous.

"Life is unfare sometimes. This kid does not deserve that. And he does not deserve all the hate he had in the commentary sections I saw just after the crash. Every person that open her mouth without knowing the importance of the injury. He was full commited for this season the last few months and I can tell you he got his head on the shoulders, knowing what he does... I just want to say : "my friend, life has been tough with you but I forbid you to give up. You have people with immense heart surrounding you right now that give you all the help they can. I wish you the best. Finger crossed. I think a lot about you.""
