Wellllllllllll, is this why Deegan won't race any more amateur races? What a crock of crap.

Makes sense. After this getting out, they would be getting claimed left and right. They'd be crazy to ever run a full-Star pro-spec engine again.

This makes Tim Cotter look like a guy that took advantage of a kid being naïve, and letting the kid believe that Cotter was some kinda AMA official or held some official role in this whole thing.

Agree that Cotter and Brian don’t come out looking that good , but nothing compared to Yamaha and Matt walker ,

It’s a good rule that should be used more often by people to keep the factory teams in check

The spare would likely be built to the same spec , hence using a more customer one

Maybe there backup motors were same spec…
Funny they wanted to change the oil to look for metal. They were trying all they could to get that motor outta that bike.

Definitely adds negativity towards DangerBoi’s path.

Matthes is 100% on his belief of the Deegan’s approach. Bad look for the Yamaha, MxSports and below.
Awesome for the kid. Put his mind and works his ass off to do it.
Bring a full factory bike to an Amateur event and it SHOULD get claimed.
This is Pro Motocross inner circle at play here! What horseshit

Wow. That kid got screwed. He did everything right and the adults hosed him. Nothing but respect for his honesty.

They are not about to risk losing a factory engine/transmission in case some one claims it in s/boy class.

I wouldn’t heap too much of the negativity on Haiden himself, like the video said he just rides what Star provides him. But it would really be interesting to dig into who at Yamaha threatened the dealer. Since the dealer had nothing to do with the claim, you’d think that would almost be extortion trying to use that threat to get the dealership to talk the kid out of it.

Time for Star to do some damage control. It won't right the wrongs here, but it sure seems like all Brennan wanted was to take a factory bike for a spin... the least they can do is make that happen.

The implication is they didn't have a spare Non-factory motor

Pretty dark shade of blue on this deal. International threats and leveraging against an innocent bystander. Rather poor behavior by multiple parties. Monster Mafioso.... Hey Paulie,,,, youze wanna keep selling bikes der ahh,, you better put da brakes on yer boy der... Very near extortion.

Matthes is a douche and Brian Deegan is a douche so:

Soon Ferry will join Star too if he rides same spec bikes already?! So don't think Matthes will talk one bad word about: Deegan, Star, Yamaha in this one. He will probably try to ignore it.

Possibly something buried deep in the dealer agreement. Those things are like 20-30 pages long. But yea they pulled all the cards there. If I were the dealer it would not sit well. If you moving a lot of stuff for them you have leverage as well.

I think the mask's off of any goodwill of that sort at this point for the kid. This interview shows he pretty clearly now gets the message: "Nice dealership ya got there. Would be a shame if anything were to happen to it."

What in the actual HELL did I just listen to? Holy crap have I just lost a ton of respect for all the obvious parties involved. Plus Brennan is letting Deegan off way too easy. He knows when hes on his factory bike or not. Bullshit!!

Thanks to those involved in steering young Deegan in the direction their going. Good job adults.

Everyone should listen to that story. Way crazier than I could have imagined. If it's in the rules it should be allowed. I think we will see a bunch of claimed bikes next year.
