Even better was that one year he whiskey'd the RM250 thru the St Louis sand whoops swapping left and right and actually pulled it out at the very end. Wish I could find that video.

The after-effect of this event is found in my avatar. RC looped out on a 4th gear straight on the 3rd lap, cartwheeling down the track and watching 18 riders sail past. His visor was screwed in and despite Ricky's best efforts he could not tear it off while riding the bike (like RC would even THINK about pulling over to repair his lid).

Meanwhile, the race up front results in multiple lead changes, largely due to mistakes made by the top 5 guys. It's a stand-on-your-feet event, when DC chimes in from the field "Guys, the faster rider on the track is Ricky Carmichael!", bent bars and screwy visor included.

Do yourself a favor and find that race on YouTube. It's a classic and testament to Carmichael's insatiable desire to win.
