Absolutely no reason to DQ him for that move. It wasn't a full speed knock out. If nobody knew about the history between these two then there's no logical explanation for why he should be dq'ed for the whole event. I'm not a Bowers supporter but as a fan of RACING....this was total bullshit. Anyone supporting the DQ is either a Barcia dick sucker or a total pussy.

They DQ Bowers then feature Osborne smashing Savatgy.
I really think Bowers missed his brake, who would try take someone out like that and give themselves no chance of staying upright? He didn't slow down when he landed at all.
And Oldenburg did the same thing to Martin minutes later...

Nah. They've been consistent ever since they started sanctioning races.

See: The Karsmakers rule in 1974, the Production rule in 1986, the leaded fuel rule and it's enforcement, the "Harley" rule that eliminated Honda from Grand National racing, the "4 strokes can be twice the size of 2 strokes to make it fair rule", etc and on and on.
Bowers got screwed because Yamaha complained. The factories own the AMA rule enforcement. Always have.

Someone should have poked their head into Bowers van just as he was peaking with rage and said “hey, did you hear? A Ray made the main”.
But on a serious note, unless something went down on the line that we missed like a punch or a threat, they should’ve waited IMO. No need to make that call on the spot. They could have reviewed it this week, spoken to both riders and then made a more informed decision. You can always suspend him for the next race. But once you pull the chord, you can’t take it back.
I have no problems with a guy getting taken out as a part of the racer advancing toward the checkers, but that was not what he did.
Bowers was in control of his bike and directed a impact at a near 90 degree angle wth other racer.
Absolute no go imho, DQ him for a race or two minimum.
That is a significant difference.
