I know sponsors like their names all over vans/trailers...but if I was racing a lot, I'd have a plain van/trailer with nothing on the outside. Unless a 'medical waste' or 'hazardous material' company would want to support me, that would probably keep them out.

That's exactly what I did and I never had a problem. No windows in the back or rear sides, a partition to keep eyes from seeing into the back of the van and no decals on the outside and the thing just blends into the background.

It's looks awful plain (and plain awful) but that's the point.

Unfortunately, I found out after buying a CRF250 frame off EBay a few months ago that turned out to be ripped off that Las Vegas is the clearing house for stolen off road vehicles in the US. And lots of folks get dirt bikes stolen in Las Vegas.

The frame I got was ripped off 7 years ago from a Las Vegas hotel. The guys truck with 4 bikes in it (CRF450, CRF250 and two smaller bikes for his kids) was ripped off. They found it stripped of everything a few days later. I felt terrible for the guy! That just sucks!

Been up since 530 this morning. Police reports, inventory, tow truck to a dealership for ignition replacement. South Point Casino could care less. Thanks to everyone that has volunteered to watch for these bikes. Both had prototype aluminum Ankle-Savers footpegs that are not even for sale yet.

its time the organisers started to think about this kind of deal , but for me , you dont leave anything worth $$$ unattended anywhere now, what with the wheelie boyz epidemic we now have, sleep with it or loseit.

On a side note, at least i found out where Aaron Pipon has got to .

Update. Las Vegas Metro Police Department called me last Thursday for more info on the bikes. The sent me a picture of two bikes in a truck with blue and white MotoSeat covers, Rekluse clutch covers and what looked like AnkleSaver aluminum pegs. With that info, they executed a search warrant and recovered our bikes. My wife and I swooped the 26 hours to Vegas and picked them up. ($600 at the impound) Then 26 hours back home and I'm taking a break. No other property of ours was recovered. Apparently they sold the bikes to some buddies and they all got busted. Here is the link about the gang:

Smart! Electrical cut off switch (hidden of course) is a must have with a fuel pump cut off a "nice to have."

Does anyone use those orange bars on steering wheels still? Man I hate thieves and while I am a pacifist I could cause bodily harm to a thief and be okay with it.

I don't know if that was the case or not, but get banners made to pull out during a race and cover the trailer.

Glad to see the bikes are at least back home..

Used to travel the country fixing hail dents on cars. While I was out on the road I ran into another dent guy who pulled an enclosed trailer with all of his tools in it. He was always working in big cities with a lot of thefts. His trailer was lettered: DANGER! LIVE BEE HIVES. DO NOT OPEN DOORS UNLESS YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL KEEPER!
It looked like a legit business with bee graphics and everything.

Always thought that was pretty damn smart. Cool

A bunch of us should hide out in the back of a moto van in LV and ATL at SX time then beat the living shit out of anybody that tries to touch it. That might teach them a lesson since law enforcement doesn't seem to care all that much.

$600 to get your stolen and altered bikes out of impound? BULLSHIT!!!!!

That is pretty good. I was going to say you could put "human remains" on the side...but then all the liberals would be breaking in to sell the stuff through the umbrella of "planned parenthood". Wink

I bought a CRF250X frame off e-bay from LV. I ran the VIN with CA DMV before buying. Built up the bike from parts and took it to CHP to get the VIN verified. They confiscated the bike! Told me it was ripped off from a LV hotel 7 years ago.

So, apparently LV is a hot bed for this stuff. And if they wait 7 years the frames VIN falls out of DMV databases. But not the CHP one! So dirt bags rip the bike off, part them out but keep the frames. After 7 years the frames start to surface for sale!

I was put in contact with the orginal owner out of ID. He told me they went to Vegas for a weekend trip with 4 bikes. The truck and bike were all taken from the hotel parking lot...He got the truck back a few weeks later with it completely stripped inside. No interior. Bikes were gone. His, his wife's and the two kids bikes. Total slime balls.

They should public nuder these type of folks when caught. That would cut down on thefts.
