Anybody know any tricks to get blisters to heal quick? Did now wear my palm savers this weekend for a harescramble. It was big mistake.

The trick to helping blisters like that is to stop riding before they get like that.

Oh, and Mello Yello. Drink lots of Mello Yello.

Also, soak it in cider.

I just keep neosporin on them until they heal up. Super bummer. If anyone finds a way to avoid getting them in the first place, I'm all ears. I get them that bad or worse every time I'm away from riding for a while.

What really helps to keep them from happening is baby powder in your gloves before the race. Keeps your hands dry(er) which really helps to keep them from forming.

I guess in lucky, I’ve never gotten them that bad! I wear thin gloves (no padding in palms) and use the stock KTM (ODI) grips. Even when I ride 4-5 days a week, I never get them very bad (NOTHING like the OP’s)

Sheeshus, find a different glove/grip set up. I also use MSR Kevlar glove liners at times for longer races, but once I found a glove/grip set up that worked for me it made the difference.

Pro taper grips sounds counter intuitive but wider is better also super thin gloves this combo worked for me. Heal up and good luck.

I used to race GNCC”s & would get these when down in Florida for the first round...very painful! They take forever to heal! Tried the risk racing palm savers...never worked for me...as another said...squeeze bike with legs, try not to hold on so tight...thin, dry gloves whenever possible, I also like very thin grips with no ribs, like Renthal diamond medium compound. If you have to race, try sports tape, wrap like a boxer, thin strips, find video...I also used super glue directly on the blisters, creates a hard shell over the blister, it can help you survive a race until they heal..they feel good in the shower huh....

Gymnastics chalk on your hands and inside your gloves has worked for me in the summer months

When I was young buck getting into the long course classes of off-road we used to use these.

Put them under your gloves and they would work pretty good at keeping blisters from forming. In the summer we cut all the fingertips off. Works great until you build up that layer of thicker skin where you no longer get bad blisters.

edit: they are silk, forgot to mention that

What class are you racing?

I used to get blisters like that every race...then I took a few riding schools, improved my technique, increased my core strength (which is required to ride a bike with property technique)...and the blisters have completely disappeared.

If you're already a fast B, or A, AA rider...then you likely already have great technique...so you'll need to figure something else out...and those risk racing palm protectors are the ticket. But if you're a slow B, or C rider...work on your technique, and strengthen your core and leg muscles. That's not an easy fix...but is probably your best bet.

My issue was that I'd support my upper body on my hands/arms because my technique was way off and my legs and core weren't strong enough to support my upper body. That extra weight on my hands is what was causing the blisters. Now that my hands for the most part just steer the bike, and I'm holding myself on with my legs, and supporting my upper body with my core muscles...no more blisters.

I’ve fucked my hands like that but not riding, building a retaining wall ( stupid and young) I didn’t use gloves best thing to do is keep them coverd and don’t ride.
Then build some calluses up.

If you can get the blisters to harden up this week which they should if you let them breathe, I use some liquid bandage on my hands where I know I get blisters. I have painted on as many as 3 coats before a race and it has really helped me. Its cheap and works, there is nothing to ball up in your hands like moleskin or tape.

I've never had very good luck with that...But I never tried 3 coats either.

Someone else suggested super glue...so I super glued my hands all up...still got blisters.

You need something like Bag Balm on your hands before you ride. This helps to create less friction between hand and bar. I used it for several years and it helped a ton. I used it every moto.

I dig the ODI grips as well. I switched from the standard black to the soft compound grey ones. They defiantly help the blisters to not "sneak" up on your so quick.
