Anyone know what the biggest jump in SX history was..?

I would think it was probably recent (past 10 years or so)

Ones that come to mine are Stewarts quad in seattle 2014 and the 5 at Metlife in 2014

What ones do you guys think?

If I remember right.....there was a big like 95' quad ( It wasn't real tall but really fast and low ) on one of those tracks about 8-10yrs ago. They kept bringing it up on the broadcast anyways. It may of been Vegas?

JS7 and O'Show at Daytona...... Leap or jump? To bad all tracks today are "cookie cutter" tracks.

Be kinda cool to see builds not use technology to build one, Build one old school, so to speak.

Wasn't there like a 100 foot quad at the Atlanta SX around 2010 or so? I seem to remember Justin Brayton was the first to quad it in practice but by the end of the night most of the 450 class was clearing it. I don't think anyone cleared it on a 250.

I'm pretty sure this is the massive quad Wandell is talking about and this is the only photo I've seen of it

Wandell was saying it was around 2010 and this photos is well before then. I can't remember ever seeing a jump this big in SX, doesn't look real to me. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Who is it? Lanninovich maybe?

Are there any photos or video of K-Dub jumping that huge quad (I think) when he broke his femur in Atlanta 2002?

Don't think Lanninovich ever raced a CR125 in pro, but could be mistaken. I think that is Danny Smith. Looks to be a 2000 or 2001 CR125 so I searched "FMF Honda team 2000" and found this pic.

Edit: Looks like I'll be taking the last spot on the Danny Smith podium.

aah yes you're right that pic is way older than 2010 I dunno what I was thinking haha.. it does look strange and I won't be surprised if there is an optical illusion involved, I'll be disappointed but not surprised.. and don't think it's Laninovich I remember being surprised at who it was
this is the quad from 2010

I'm thinking there was only one line over it haha

It wasn't very big or nearly as risky as it looked.

Wasn't the biggest jump but stewy jumping over that wall at Daytona?(sp). The year was 2010? That was impressive.

Yeah if I remember right, Carmichael went out and jumped it during opening ceremonies.

Potentially the track that TP199 designed had some big leaps on it, and a pretty massive quad, but I don't believe anyone went for it.

1986 LA SX had a 90' quad most 250's were hitting.

David Stansfield, take it away.

That last lap was nuts. Would have been Danny's first and only 125 sx win if he wanted to get dirty with Tallon Volland (sp?) in that last turn.

I was sitting there just behind the tarp covered seats watching when he did it. It wasn't just the 2 quads that a few had done during practice that he tried. He went 5 /4 and endoed the entire way.

They were using the start berm to land halfway up a step pyramid then using the top ramp to go 4/4 ,kW decided to jump shorter off the start berm and use the base of the pyramid to step over it all adding 8 feet to distance and taking off 6 ft lower.

He was front wheel low vertical when he touched down and the 5 then upsidedown at the end of the 4,basically the length of the dome in 2 leaps.

The jump several did in practice was done just a couple times in heats and never in the main. Horton did it on a 125.

May be the only instances where quads are cool.

I remember that one at Atlanta, it was called the "Monster Quad." (Imagine that, right?) That's where my seats were, it was fucking massive and the jumps blocked my view of the majority of the track.

Wasn't there one in Vegas around 04 that Reed and a few others were doing in practice and they were told if they did it in the main they would be docked? IIRC, there was a turn right at the landing and they were afraid of them launching into oncoming traffic. I don't remember exactly how big it was but it's worth throwing into the discussion.

That quad in ATL was so rad. They should bring back more of those - it was one of the few obstacles that was truly challenging for a 250F.
