What's the best throttle tube you can buy right now?

Depends on what you’re looking for, but Motion Pro and I think Pro Taper make an aluminum throttle tube with a bearing that makes it butter smooth.

Buy ODI lockon grips. New throttle tube with each pair of grips. New is the smoothest

Aluminum > plastic OEM. I seriously couldn't believe how much smoother something like that make it. Not to mention they're much stronger than plastic tubes.

Does someone produce a product to change out the cam reel, or do you have to buy a whole new throttle tube as well?

I had an aluminum tube wear out my throttle housing enough that it let the cable pop off and get stuck at 1/4 throttle. Side note it was at budds creek while I was leading the race / trying to hold off Hubert ( ya know the nitro circus redneck guy). Good thing it didnt stick wide it coulda been ugly on those hills. Since then ive been running the plastic ones. Am I the only one that has had this problem?

No, I learned my lesson a LONG time ago about using aluminum throttle tubes. Went down in a long sweeper in 3rd gear. Dented the throttle tube and it was stuck wide open with my rear leg under the rear tire. Had to hit the kill switch to shut it off. NEVER will I run anything but plastic.

Good luck with these from Motion Pro over any aluminum ones...

I like the Pro Circuit throttle tube. Built very well. The Pro Taper Twister is great with the bearing but it moves the throttle about 10mm to the right.

Ive had the throttle tube wear out the throttle case as well and the throttle cable slipped off the reel. Not while riding or anything. I think it’s good practice to replace the throttle cable and housing at regular intervals (maybe every 100 hours or so). When that happened to me i was probably at 150 hours......although it was before hour meters were the rage!

I’m a kawasaki die hard and they come with the damn grip vulcanized to the throttle tube... who thought that was good idea?

I just bye the motion pro blue plastic one they offer and have great results on both my 06 KX 250 and 16 KX450... it’s a throttle tube don’t over think it!

Had this happen to me in December on a '12 CRF450 while leading a Big 6 race in Lake Havasu half way thru the first lap. Stuck 1/4 way open and I had to manually snap back the throttle the rest of the race. OEM throttle tube, housing and throttle cable. Did you figure out a fix for yours? I'm probably replacing these parts...

Always wanted to try one, but never have. Usually take mine off the bars a couple times a year, and clean out the inside with a rag on stick. Also run fine grit emery cloth around the bar, and it makes difference. Also make sure the grip is absolutely not bottomed on the bar, always slid the housing back out a bit, after bottoming it out.

ODI-Lock On and a few drops of motor oil. Works perfect without wearing down the bars.

Emig Lock-On grips come with different cams as far as I know. The ones for my KTM did, but I never got a chance to put them on.
