Just wondering what is out there? Sand is my favorite type of soil to ride on and I've been to some really great sand races so far. The river front Grand Prix in fort Smith Arkansas is my favorite event. Takes place Thanksgiving weekend and has multiple races all weekend that all include about 18 million whoops, and I love it.

Probably the Baja Brawl? Or Thunder In The Sand in NJ, if they still host that...

Southwick

Disclaimer: I am biased being from New England, and also the only real "sand" track I've been to, not counting the back yard and "questionably legal" tracks ive been to.

Southwick is definitely up there on the list for me, I made it up there for the national in 13, I think
Rode practice the day after the race and it was awesome!

The best sand race in the US is the Baja Brawl in Michigan.

I love the RFGP, this last year was unreal.

Have you been to Bar2Bar in Wichita?
Rode the river track at 3Palms?

I raced the RFGP a couple years ago and its a great event in an area you would never think about being a sand race,

Grantsburg WIsconsin is the deepest sand I've ever ridden. Completely bottomless sand with no base, endless whoops. Not many jumps on the track, just an old school flow. They only hold one race a year in the spring. Matthes has mentioned it on pulp a few times.

Grantsburg was always my favorite track, i didn't know they only do one race now, in the 90's they would have
3 or 4 races usually always the 1st race of the year and then few more throughout the summer.
My 2nd Favorite was Cambridge mn still sandy but not as sandy as Grantsburg

Here's their website but no mention of the MX race. http://www.straightarrows.org/

District 23 schedule says its on April 14. They have to do it in the spring while there is frost in the ground otherwise a few 65s disappear in the endless sand. Personally I like the extra traction.

For the last few years they have had two in a row the first two weekends of the season (one would usually be cancelled due to snow). This year it's just one on the second weekend of the season.

Here's a video from a couple years ago for your viewing pleasure, can't wait to get back out there this spring!

Sandy Oaks raceway, Keithsburg, Illinois. Home of 1977 125 national and former testing grounds of Team Yamaha and Honda. February 24 annual hare scramble runs part of national track from 77', additional event 3/10. I remember one year Justin Brayton won the annual event ( just across the river from Iowa).

I was going to say this place too. Place is so gnarly! I can only imagine what the actual track and everything looked like back in the day. “Roughest motocross track in the world.” -Bob Hannah

Love that race! Nothing like punishing yourself for 2 hours on sand whoops after not doing enough work all winter!
