20 years ago, I thought the '95 CR's were the ugliest bikes on the planet. Then a few years ago, I ended up buying one and I still thought it was ugly. After staring at it in my garage for a few months something weird happened. I walked into the garage one day and suddenly felt that I was looking at the best looking bike of all time.

Cam, that thing looks mint! How many hours were on it when you picked it up?

Based on wear of the original chain/sprockets/brake pads, my guess is less than 20 hours. I've raced it 5-6 times so it's probably at around 25 hours now.

I think for a lot of us, it's the bikes that imprinted / made a lasting impression on us when we were young.

When I was about 5 years old the teenager across the street had a chrome tanked Hodaka Dirt Squirt. I was fascinated by it and would just stand next to it looking at the chrome fenders, the shiny shock springs, the heat guard on the pipe, the knobby tires, I can even close my eyes and remember what their shed smelled like with that and his dad's XL. I would climb up on it and imagine what it was like to ride.

Later on, nothing could possibly be as bitchin as an 87 KX80.

Or 90 CR125.

For my age, I remember drooling over the mid 90's YZ80. I remember watching the promo VHS with Justin Buckelew just absolutely shredding that thing and I was drooling!

Forty, This is the only photo I have. It is VMX magazine, but I don't have the issue.

I'm like you, when I saw the photo, it was instant lust for this 370. Exceptionally well detailed.

In late 1991 this was all I dreamed about... Not so much now.

I came off 80s a year or 2 after the powervalved-RM80 came out. Around here the gates went from almost all KXs to 50/50. Those RMs had more bottom and mid than half the 125s!

When my dad took me shopping for my first 80 there was a shop that had a 92 RM80 and a leftover 90 CR80. I didn't know shit about bikes, but I knew that the RM was ugly and the seat was too hard. The CR felt small though and it wasn't pink like the cool new bikes. We ended up getting a 93 KX80 that had just arrived (Sept 92), which was my dream come true, but I bet that 92 RM80 would have been a much, much better bike for a beginner rider like myself.

I thought the 02 and 03 TM's looked really good. When I owned an 02 I couldn't wait to update it to the 03 graphics but looking back now I dig the 02 more.

^I'm surprised how many people love that look. It definitely looks trick but I like the look of the 2015 regular bikes better.

Something looks disproportionate on that new plastic, too much side panel and not enough shroud.

I have come to the conclusion that the bike, the year, the style, etc that we love is directly related to our age. Think about it - what did you drool over when you were a kid? My guess is it is whatever your bias is here.....just sayin...

I love the clean lines on this bike, what year model is it?
92-93 Yamaha WR 500. Only a 1000 made they say. Photo is of a 1992.

These ARE the best looking new bikes. Using the aluminum spars as part of the aesthetics has lost its way with me. I'd rather look at well designed plastic rather than that bulbous alum frame.
