Hey, looking to run race fuel at a 50/50 mix with high octane ethanol free pump gas.

What is the best race fuel to do this with? would it be leaded and non oxygenated? and what is the best fuel for it (ex. klotz 110 etc)

For a stock 2013 KTM 250SX

MXA Guide to Race Fuels

With that being said a "stock" bike should run fine on 91 pump gas.

MXA is core Bro!

I've been running Sunoco Supreme for 4 seasons in my RM250s and my KTM300's and I love it. At 112 octane it's perfect for mixing 50/50.

Without getting into too many specifics, and debating opinions, my advice is that you can always benefit with a race fuel, wether it be a 50/50 percentage, or whatever you think runs well in your situation, as long as you do it consistently, and jet the bike accordingly. One of the benefits that you don't hear talked about enough, is that when you use race fuel, one of the benefits is the quality (Purity) of fuel that you are using. Pump gas has a lot of crap in it, and the formulation isn't as specific. I always buy 2ga of race gas, and add a gallon of chevron premium,..that's my flavor by long term success, or superstition, I've lost track at this point, but my engines always run great, and look amazing during teardown. Also, if you ask why I only mix 3 ga at a time,...It's because i only mix what I'm going to use for the weekend/week, and any extra/leftover goes into the truck in the end.

I'm in the same boat. I don't cut in race gas for power or because my bikes are fire breathers, just for consistency of fuel.

Both valid points.

I stress when I say pump gas you are using a major name brand, like Chevron, Mobil, etc.

I wouldn't run pump in any two stroke. I would put the thickest base gasket available in there first, then maybe ok.

I know that a Yz will blow up in short order on pump.

I run 100LL avgas in all my stock compression 2-strokes. It's always consistent and no ethanol. Runs $4.40/gal here.

I ran sunoco 110 until the pump switched to renegade 110. 50/50. Like others have said, quality and makes jetting easier. Might be a little performance boost but I honestly think it just makes it cleaner and crisper, not necessarily hp.

I run pump gas. Always have and always will. Race gas is just too expensive. I know it's better in almost every aspect except for cost, but the cost factor is just too much.

100LL for me, never had a problem. 05-07 Honda's are notorious for knocking on pump gas thought. I don't know about other brands.

If you can get Vp gas, mixing C12 with pump is a pretty decent fuel.

Most companies do a basic 110 octane, but the curve has a high distillation curve.

Many offer a 112 supreme for not much more, and they are a lot more volatile, often 260F or lower boiling.

For ultimate performance, VP ultimate4.4 is very hard to beat

C-12 / Pump 50/50 is the proven mixture for me, even in my 4-strokes. Mainly to keep the motor burning clean.

Find a dealer selling Base Race Fuel. It's around $10 a gallon here. Get the 116 octane and run it strait with Redline oil. It runs fantastic in my YZ250. It makes for a wicked hit in the mid-range.

Been running VP VPR and it has been an excellent choice ......oxygenated and runs clean, not too bad on the pocket book either.

had detonation in head after 10hr running 93 on my stock 14 ktm 250sx. put the 300sx kit on and been running vp110 straight ever since. 8$ a gal.
the throttle response, jetting ease, predictability and lack of spooge is amazing.

Renegade SX2, go up at least 2 sizes on the mainjet and you'll feel the difference. I've tried mixing C12 50/50 with premium non ethanol pump gas, the SX2 is worth it.

Recently started running VP-T4 @ the 2:1 ratio you use with Chevron 91 (winter). Bike runs excellent and burns clean. My motors are looking really good (internally).

This is what I do in all my 2-strokes (especially my 13 YZ250!) and use MS-109 mixed them same way for my 4-strokes. Start easier and run cleaner. Notice when riding my 13 YZ450 I don't have to clutch it out of most corners when using this mixture.

That's an awesome price! It's $17 a gallon here.

Do not run pump in a two stroke. Ill run 93 out of the pump all day in my 450 but not in the two stroke. Any of you YZ owners pull out your manual it says 95 octane gas or above RIGHT IN THE MANUAL. My cr blew up on pump. I highly advise not to run pump gas in any two stroke.

What he ^^^^^^^ said! Much easier to jet as well...usually just minor changes from stock. Went 2 down on the main and moved the clip to the #2 position on my stock '06 RM250 running 50/50 Sunoco 110 leaded / 89 Pump.

Just a note about pump fuel, Mercury Marine did a test at random on fuels from several stations name brand and not the one s with better or should I say the freshest fuel was the ones that are always busy.

I'm running 100LL av fuel as well in my 07 cr250. Same mods as CamP and runs strong. Last time I bought some it was $6 a gallon but I imagine it will be closer to $4 next time I get some more. I've run 110 turbo blue but that's just because the gas station by the track had it at the pump. Didn't really notice a difference between the two performance wise. Good stuff.

Why do you suggest going up on the main?
