So I’m looking at getting a newer rm125. (I have a 1985 rm125.) I don’t know what year(s) to aim for. A family friend has an 01 that is a great bike, but I know 04 and after are considered to be better bikes. I’m 5’4 and will be putting shorter suspension linkage on what ever I buy so I can touch the ground. The goal is to do some local amateur racing and another option for trail riding, and basically have something with a power valve. Thanks

I would buy the nicest cleanest low hour one you could find regardless of the year. An older nicer one is better than a newer one that has been beat or not taken care of. Not sure what part of the country you live in but there is a nice 04 in the for sale section here on vital worth looking at.

2005 thru 2007 is the best, the 2004 is also good, but the 05 cylinder was better along with triple clamps and fork pistons.

2003 and older were the bridged port cylinder with a shorter rod and not quite as good as the ktm copy engine from.2004 onwards

FWIW 144 kits aren't supposed to rev, but my 2004 with a 2005 cylinder revs higher than a new tc125, in fact it eats it for breakfast
