Considering a move to texas around the new year and was wondering what area is the most densely populated with tracks/ just best riding in general. Thank you all!

Dallas/Fort Worth area. I lived in Arlington (right in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth), there was a good amount of tracks within 30 minutes to an hour drive. Then if you want to venture out more, there’s another smaller selection of tracks in Austin, Houston, east texas, west Texas and Oklahoma, all within a few hours from DFW.

Look up the FU Compound. Transplant from WI started a trading compound this year, don’t go there to ride 4 laps and shoot the breeze, he won’t let you come back

DFW for sure, there are quality tracks all around the outside of the metroplex, and even a couple inside the city limits. The neat thing about DFW area is that dirt varies quite a bit in each direction, east of dallas is more woods, west is more desert like, south gets into the hill country and north you got the red river and oklahoma.

If you're S of Austin, then you would have 7-8 great tracks within 2.5 hours. Murphy's, Austin Motocross Park, Spoaks, Cycle Ranch (maybe if it is open), Creekside, Irondog, 3 Palms, Rio Bravo, Lone Star, and there is a new one W of Houston I don't know

All good advice. Moto in Texas is basically dead anywhere West of Weatherford although off road is pretty strong.

fellow lubbockite I see? I would say the best off road area is in and around the panhandle. the state enduro series has 4+ rounds within a stones throw of the Amarillo/ LBK areas. Moto for sure is DFW or ATX metro all the way. Also OP should know that there is no tracks or land to ride on in far south TX

Believe it or not, since living here I have noticed that there are not that many BBQ places in Texas, though the ones that you do find are very very good, expensive, and you often have a long wait. Texmex is the top of the food group here..

Moving to DFW area in a few months for work, planning to lay down roots. Any good riding areas apart from tracks? Open land, trails, etc?

I’m an hour south east of Dallas, Canton/Mabank area, 30mins - 1hour I can be at several tracks. Underground, Swan, Athens, Buffalo Creek, The Pit, Bill-a-Dilla, Village Creek (1.5 hours), oak hill (2hours), and several private tracks.

I used to joke (sort of) when I lived in Wyoming and met someone who was visiting from Colorado. I would tell them that we were glad to have them around, as long as they went back to Texas when they were done. Most of the Greenies didn't like that very much!

I've lived in the DFW area for 7 years. What everyone says about the tracks here is true - plenty of good places to ride, lots of different terrain, etc. My son lived in Austin for a year and he likes it better down there. Murphy's, ADV, Spoaks, etc. He loves those tracks. And you're not far from 3 Palms (north of Houston) which is my favorite place to ride. Point being, if you're anywhere between DFW and Houston, you'll have alot of good tracks to choose from.

The south east side of DFW is the best place in the state for moto. Several training facilities and within an hour or two of the rest of the DFW area tracks. Also puts you less than 4 hours to 3 Palms near Houston and the Central Texas tracks.

Is billa dilla open to the public? I have seen some teaser videos on FB and would like to check it out. Can't ever find any info on it though.

I lived in the hill country north of San Antonio for 4 years. Over populated, over taxed, over heated, bug infested, almost completely privately owned shit hole. It’s just not for me. And still, I met and have some amazing friends down there.

I have been invited to BillaDilla a couple times, but declined due to the price (think it was like $100/bike or something), but I have heard a lot of good stuff about it.

I can tell you where it's not. San Antonio or anywhere south of there.

Cycle Ranch, south of SA, was once the best track in Texas. Now its only open when the owner has a vision come to him after he licks a toad or whatever he's doing at the moment.Whistling

Everything else is a minimum of 2 hours away.

My choice would be to live between Austin and Houston or in the DFW area.
