Seeing that we have threads about being passed by pros ,and frankenbikes. I figure I wouldn't get too much hate over a thread about the "best deal".
Any who here are the Rules:
1. It has to be the end cost on a bike you got. You might have gotten a YZ125 for 100$ but the 1400$ you put in it to make it run has to be budgeted into your end result.
2. Give a brief description of what all went into it , the buy, the build , and the end result.
3. If you were able to resale it . Was it for profit, or in the end did you break even?
4. If you want post a picture.
If you want any rules added please comment so I can edit and add.
Thanks,
Brent

Mine would be my 05 Kx 125 I bought in 2014 I paid 1000$ for it after it wouldn't start due to a plugged carb. It had all stock graphics including the warning stickers. All original parts including a brake pad that looked like it had a chip from a piece of rogue wire ( It seriously looked like it was ridden maybe 7hrs tops). No scuffs on frame or on covers. Rode it for a year put new brakes on it for 45$, Rebuilt the forks for 80$ , and did a top end for 120$. Total in the first year was 1245$ for a practically new 125. The next year I got a deal on a complete bottom end for 345$. Ill post pics after work.
The Shop
the best deal i have ever gotten was a 2018 ram ecodiesel Laramie 1500 4x4 for 32000 out the door with 0 percent financing
I call him up and tell him how much for a new crank gaskets and bearings and he says “I don’t have that much money” so it sits in my shop torn apart for 6 months. Then I get a phone call from a guy several states away wanting to know if I have his sons bike? I said I’ve got one that a buddy brought over. He says that’s my sons bike that we brought down on vacation and the kids rode it on the highway till they locked it up. He asks me how much to fix it and I tell him. He says no way just put it back together. I said ok but it’s still $200 for the labor.
He doesn’t want to pay so I tell him I’ll bring it to you in boxes then. Then he asks, what would you give for it? I said $200 he just laughed. Long story short I got it for $200 put another $300 in it. Rode it for two years and sold it for $1500. Best deal I’ve ever had on a bike.
Pit Row
Sold it a year later for $5000 and the $1500 saved allowed me to ride a whole lot more.
Well I went to Oakland and this guy straight rode the bike up from around the corner to a gas station I was waiting at. After verifying all the paperwork and making sure it ran good with no issues I bought it.
Bike literally had one hour on it. Zero dirt, air filter wasn’t even oiled from the dealer. Needed tires and a throttle tube cause someone was playing 12’oclock boys in their back alley and dumped it and I think got scared to ride it.
Put about $300 in it, changed oil and put 6 hours on it. Figured out kawi wasn’t my thing and resold it for $6200 a month later. Sketchiest deal I ever did.
Still got it all these years later!
net cost of 1981 = $200.00
Vickery Yamaha Denver --- Best guys ever-- still there doing good work.
I ran through a couple sets of tires put 65hrs on it and sold it a yr later for 4600.00!
