I was really hoping to see this kid get a ride for next year and here it is getting close to the end of October and he still doesn't have a ride. He showed his outdoor speed this year by doing great at Loretta's this year and earning the Horizon award and then he backed it up with a great finish at Indiana. Last year he finished 3rd at the Monster Energy cup race in the Amateur All Star class showing that he can ride SX yet he still isn't getting the calls.

I hope the Industry keeps getting stronger over the next couple of years because I have to believe a kid of this caliber would have had a ride already if this would have been just a few years ago.

I also thing he got screwed out of a 2 digit national number because of the rule change a few years ago giving points to the east/west regional sx classes. 10 points from that 450 national finish would have gotten him at least into the low 90's to high 80's any other time in the past.

Wow. I thought for sure he had a ride with the Rock River team. I sure hope something comes along for him. I was really stoked for the kid getting a 15th O/A in his first national.

It is a bummer.....

The days of an unheralded Ryan Dungey begging Rodgers DeCoster for a ride after doing well at lorettas and coming from pretty far off the radar to get a factory ride seem to be just about over. If your not in a 'program' by schoolboy, GOOD LUCK.

It seems the teams invest so much into rider A that come hell or high water they are obligated to see it through, even if there is another rider who is on par with their investemet.

I grew up racing and riding with Marshal Weltin, and he's kind of in the same boat. Beat Forkner straight up at the Baja Brawl this year but is still without a team (to my knoledge). He DOES have a national number from last year's remaining rounds after LL and you could argue he was the most impressive graduate from the ranch.....

Like I said, if youre on the outside looking in, good luck getting a team to bail on a 5 year investment and give someone else a shot.

Weltin and Bloss both not having rides is a shame. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Weltin ends up somewhere, probably on one of the lesser supported teams, by the start of the season. I just assumed Bloss had a deal with RR for this coming year. RR makes some questionable calls with their rider signings imo.

To that end, you can add Chase Marquier to that group. If I remember right he finished right with Weltin at Utah.

So lemme get this straight while II try to wrap my head around the bass-ackwards bro down industry….. The kid that WON the coveted AMA Horizon award does not have a ride, are you fucking kidding me???? A couple years ago that was the golden ticket. Its actually really embarrassing to call this sport legitimate when I see something like this going on. That's like te Heisman trophy winner not having a team to play in the NFL for albeit a Heisman winner with a.clean record.... His size would probably do well in supercross too as compared to a superstar amateur that's barely breaking puberty 5'4 and 135 lbs.
Have these teams learned NOTHING from the last 2 years of superstar amateur kids with big promise coming in and barely able to crack the top ten more than 2 times while crashing out of half of the races

It does surprise me that these two haven't gotten rides, especially Bloss. If you look back at the Horizon Award winners of past years, almost all have gone on to spectacular careers. Must mean that the industry is stocked with young talent who have a bright future. Hopefully we'll see these guys on competitive equipment in 2016.

He has been racing Cycletrader bikes and posts a bunch of social media stuff with Cycletrader.

Maybe they haven't got his contract done, but it seems like he is on the team.

Barcia was helping Weltin out. He got support as an amateur and also the few Nationals he raced, from JustinBarcia.com. Are either of these two expected to be getting their Road to SX points during the coming AX season. Are their any exceptions to the Road to SX for obtaining a Supercross license? I don't remember Alldredge racing Arenacross.

To clear the air Benny Bloss for a fact has no contract with anyone including the Cycle Trader Yamaha team for 2016.

I really hope this post grabs someones attention. Benny is a hard working kid that has done everything necessary to put himself in a position to win at the highest level.... He trains on his road bike, he works hard a Reynard's, has a great support group from his friends and family, and he has been winning! The only thing is he doesn't have is a ride.

Benny will be racing one way or another and it's going to be someones loss if they don't grab this kid and give him a contract.

You sound like the "leave brittany alone" guy/girl.

There are a lot of Heisman trophy winners that never make it in the NFL.

This year's A class seemed weak. Maybe one of them will prove me wrong, but I don't see any top 5 talent in there. Plus, the big teams are full.

Is his size working against him? From what I've seen he looks massive on the bike and better suited to a 450. Problem with that is he needs to ride a 250 in SX first before he's allowed to ride a 450 indoors. Most of these rides everyone is talking about are with 250 teams, where at the pro level HP and power to weight make a big difference, and teams might not be willing to take what may be seen as a risk when they can hire a tiny light weight kid who's arguably as talented and at very least isn't behind straight from the get go.

Maybe he needs to privateer his way through a SX season on a 250 to get enough points to be eligible to ride a 450 in 2017. Jump on the big bike for outdoors and the rest of his career where he can actually compete on reasonably level ground.

He was one of very few guys there who charged for 30 minutes all 4 motos, I am a fan and I hope he lands a ride!

Your perception of spectacular must be very low.....please enlighten us.......the fact is, Kip Bigelow, and the rest of the Horizon Award committee, lack the expertise necessary to pick, and the factory teams know this...even the Heisman Trophy winner goes to the Combine where Pro skills are evaluated....you guys live in a fantasy world where a crystal ball is your guide....must be nice...

I would say those 2 B riders earned those rides and proved it Saturday night.

2015 Benny Bloss - Tons of talent and speed.
2014 RJ Hampshire - Same as Matt below.
2013 Matt Bisceglia - Fast as shit on occasion. He'll be a 250 title threat.
2012 Zach Bell - Poor kid needs to retire.
2011 Justin Bogle - 250SX title and has tons of talent.
2010 Jason Anderson - Just getting warmed up. He'll be a 450 threat in 2016.
2009 Dean Wilson - Moderately successful with an outdoor title, but lots of injuries.
2008 PJ Larson & Darren Durham - One is done and the other I've not seen in some time.
2007 Trey Canard - An outdoor title and 250SX title and several wins.
2006 Josh Hill - A win or two? Tons of talent, though.
2005 Ryan Villopoto - Hall of fame career.
2004 Mike Alessi - A few wins outdoors and several good rides with teams. The hype burst like a balloon.
2003 Davi Millsaps - Long career with a 250SX title and a hand full of wins.
2002 Evan Laughridge - I got nothin'.
2001 James Stewart Jr. - Hall of fame career.
2000 Ben Riddle - Last I heard he was trying to become Tyler Durden. Prison?
1999 Travis Pastrana - 1 title and never really got to show his talent and speed due to injuries.
1998 Billy Payne - Short career, few flashes of brilliance.
1997 Nick Wey - Moderately successful, long career. Built a name for himself, very funny, nice guy.

Think you better take another crack at Nick Wey. He has done VERY well as far as earnings are concerned.

Does success equal money or wins?
