Talked to Rock River team, no plans to take Benny Bloss back after departure from Blue Buffalo team days before ATL SX.

What happened here? I have heard or seen nothing about this until today.

Is there something off with this Bloss guy? He was one of the best riders at Lorettas and now he can't find a ride. Or is it just very, very bad luck?

Nothing wrong with Bloss. Truth will come out soon. He'll be fine, good things happen to good people.

PC was looking for a fill-in for the East Coast. Maybe Benny is getting that ride.

because people are questioning if Bloss is a problem. He's not and he deserves a good ride.

Well you know its weird that all the sudden 3 days before east coast starts he all of the sudden doesn't have a ride...the question is valid but also with is there bad team chemistry or is Brooks (i believe he is the team manager) being too hard on him...like whats the deal man

I don't know Benny, but I'm around the races a good bit. Usually if there is a "bad egg" you'll atleast hear mumbles of it. I haven't heard anything but love about Bloss. He's another guy who was being helped by Robbie Reynard, and again, along with the other riders there that points to him not being a problem at all. Birds of a feather...

So why no ride? Not much available with Geico locking their guys up well before they turn pro and PC keeping their same roster. There is likely a fear of his size for some 250f teams as he's tall, and this year the A classes didn't get the "hype" they do some years. At one point, a similar situation happened to Colt Nichols, he went and raced AX for a season and went back to Loretta's and showed strong again. He then went to SX last year with Crossland and showed some talent there before landing where he is now and everyone knows him. It's a tough path, but can be taken.

I'm really curious as to what the story is here, but I hope the best for Benny Bloss as a rising talent and the Blue Buffalo team who is a growing team opening up rides and jobs in the industry.

Who is saying that Benny doesn't have a ride? Just not riding for Blue Buffalo

|

2/25/2016 7:56 AM

It was weird seeing him at AX races this year without Blue Buffalo graphics, yet another privateer not close to qualifying had the full Blue Buffalo skin set-up deal.

Well as of right now no one has heard of any other ride he would be on, Transworld just put that Cycle Trader won't take him back after a separation from Blue Buffalo

I've heard that the Bloss's are going racing as privateers.

Let's all remember that he's done really, really well on his own...

But the thing is he shouldn't have to do it on his own, the guy won the freaking Horizon Award!

He may be better off on his own as opposed to what he just walked away from. I hope he kills it!

You still aren't getting my point. An Horizon Award winner should be able to land a factory or a factory supported team. At least a one year deal.

I have it from very good sources that the Benny/Blue Buffalo split was amicable and there are no fingers to be pointed. Each decided to go another direction.
I also know the Bloss's to be a great family and Benny to be an Ultra talented kid who WILL be taking those talents and his Arena cross bike to Atlanta, hoping to show well and gain the attention and support he deserves from another team.
Good luck Benny!

|

So what I take from the vague comments above is this.

Bloss was promised a lot, and little was delivered. Could be in the form of a small salary, parts, bikes, testing time, expenses paid, own gear deal, etc. I know folks don't want to come out and say it, but it would be beneficial for Benny considering he seems to be good people, and so other teams don't get a bad impression of the young man.

Good luck to Mr. Bloss and his family. Going alone takes balls, but doing what you feel is right is much more important in my eyes. I applaud them for taking the high road and avoiding blowing out the team on social media, that's a wise move.

I don't have ANY data on this but from the post about he wasn't running BB graphics in AX speaks volumes to me.

ASSUMPTION/OPINION ON MY PART: I'm not sure there was ever a deal. What else would explain not having your "sponsor's" logo on your AX bike?

A 250 program takes a lot more effort and money than a 450 program bike wise.
Really hard to do off premise without a fairly decent budget.
Practice bikes can't be stock and require much attention, unlike a 450.

|

2/25/2016 11:18 AM

All I know is he is pretty god damn tall!

|

2/25/2016 11:23 AM

The fact that a Horizon Award winner is going racing with no sponsors on his parents dime speaks volumes about the condition of the sport in general.

I hope he holeshots and checks out.

Are you making an assumption, here? Yes.

Did Larry and Company send him to the AX races?

Answer: No.

Benny and his family are doing it right.

As others have pointed out: Yes. He is the Horizon Award winner. In the big picture...there aren't any gaurantees that an award will get you anything.

Besides, this isn't a bad time to be a fast privateer...good things could come from this.
