I've been through a couple helmets for my son and cannot seem to get a proper fitted helmet. He measures 20 Inch circumference. We tried a couple different 6D sizes and a Bell Moto 9 MIPS youth helmet. The 6d does not fit his head at all. He has a round head. The Bell seems to fit better but the cheek pads are very tight on his face. I contacted bell to see if they make thinner pads but the 50mm pad is the thinnest for that particular helmet. They recommended an adult extra small, I'm concerned about the shell size and weight of the adult and wondering if any of the other cheek pads from the bell models would fit the Youth Moto 9. The adult cheek pads are magnetic but the youth are snap ins. The full 9 fusion cheek pads offer multiple sizes and look like the exact same pad. Any help? I called bell directly but not to confident in their response.
He was in a 6D Medium Youth, great helmets, but on the heavier side, he now needs a Adult XS, so a little more weight again.
Ended up going with the Fly Formula, Carbon. Still great protection, but a lot lighter, especially when racing 1-2 Hour Cross Country races.
FLY have either 3-4 Shell sizes, then padding differences. Pretty sure the XS and Small are the same shell, just the XS has thicker padding.
