Just was on Vurbmoto site and watched a video of a kid on a 125 just killing it! I raced a Loretta's regional there in 2013 and can attest that place is bad ass!! Been racing since 93 and never have I ridden anything as gnarly as a big race there with a Moto late in the day. This coming from a guy who calls Unadilla one of his home tracks. Its def a little fast and could use some finessing the track a bit but Baja is def national caliber. The nationals lack a true sand track and this place is legit. Plus its got big hits and already proven to be capable of holding big events. They would need better spectating accommodations and not sure the parking situation for overflow but id be stoked to say the place get the nod someday.

Oh ya and Steve Matthes that kid on the 80cc bike that you landed on back in the day will prolly be there so def be on your toes....keep that lawyer of yours # on hand.

They can barley fit everyone for the Baja Brawl race let alone a national. Maybe if they could use the fields across the street for parking and such it would work. I dont think you would ever see 2 nationals in the same state and Redbud isnt losing theirs anytime soon.

That place isnt going to be built any time soon. He has all sorts of issues with the township.

Fact: The US nationals need several pure sand tracks.

Fact: Michigan & Minnesota have larger spectator attendance than any of the other rounds.

Fact: California has 2 nationals with less spectator turn out.

Fact: The US nationals need several pure sand tracks.

Looks fast and fun...looks pretty flat for a national though.

Helmet cams make it seem flat. I live 5 miles away and has some nice elevation changes

If I remember correctly, there have been a couple tracks in Michigan besides Red Bud that have hosted a National race or two, but I can't remember which ones. It would be sweet to have a National at Baja though, most people don't realize how sandy Michigan actually is.

If it is a true sand track, it doesn't need much elevation change. Lommel is a good example.

I go to Baja a lot and that helmet cam is really cool, but I would assume that race was in the morning because it gets way rougher than that. It is an awesome track and it does deserve to be a national. It would be easy for them to add a few older sections to the track for the national day to lengthen the lap times.

I've been going there off and on since the late 80's. Actually pretty significant elevation changes. Like someone said, hard to see with the GoPro. Awesome track!

Thanks for the input! Be curious to know what kind of possibility it is for them to increase there parking? Yes the elevation is decent enough and crazy rough like mentioned. I have seen my share of rough tracks and Baja tops the list. My LL mid East regional there in 2013 had huge whooped out sand rollers thru the entire track and even in almost every corner. Had to carry your momentum everywhere just to not get hammered to death. A real mans track and just what the circuit needs. I know Southwick is sick but Baja is way more exciting and would become an instant favorite with both fans and riders. Get rid of that P.O.S Utah and go to Baja!!

You pay to play.
Do they even want to invest that type of money to get a national when it could end up like Freestone in Texas?

There was talk about it a couple years ago. There is a significant farm field across the street that could serve at parking IF Pat had the money to buy it and IF the farmer would sell. The township has been on Pat the owner, and at one point told his kid he couldn't ride at his own track/house unless there was a scheduled race or practice.... so that would be a major hurdle that could cause problems. It would be an awesome track with tons of spectator possibilities but as mentioned above..... Pay to play.

I guess without the possibility of more Parking at Baja this is kind of a dead topic, but you'd think that there would be some sort of push for some different terrain with tracks with the MX338 gone now. There's very little contrast in what we race on here with soil and prep... GP's are much more well rounded in that way

Plenty of parking all around the track. Just have to get with the Land owners to lease the land during the event. (Make it worth there while) like Budds Creek did during the MXoN.

That way the Farmers can get their crop (obviously a crop that can be harvested during National season such as Alfalfa) in and out before the event and make money off of parking.

You can go back through my posts and see I have mentioned this very same thing for years. before Southwick was rumored to pull out of Nats.

Grew up racing district 12/14 and Baja was one of my Favorites, even visited the Hospital there a time or two...

Been around awhile and have seen most of the country racing and riding. Very few of those tracks over the years jump out as having the potential. Baja is one of them and think this place should be given a second look at possibilities. They would def have to put in some work on the track with some additions and modifications, the facility with accommodations, and parking but there's major oppurtunity here to have one bad ass national! I think the investment for them would pay big dividends in the long run.

DC please chime in if you happen to see
Be curious to hear your thoughts

Oh and the go pro doesn't show it but there's a jump,on the first lap where he takes the lead, that is huge for a 125. Im not talking about the 140. That kid can haul.

Baja is my favorite in D14 and I love riding there. It is awesome to see it get all this love but I don't know if it could handle a National crowd. It definitely could be a great sand round as 3/4 of the track is loamy sand and gets deep and rough as hell over the course of a day.

That jump is in the flat section in the middle about a half lap in and it is a table withe a single after that is only jumped by the seriously fast guys. When you see somebody pin it and go for it it is pretty awesome!
