Bad Crash at Glen Helen Today 7/17/11

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 7:53pm
We all hate to see a rider go down hard and this one was a kid, maybe 15? Happened on the down side of the log jump just before turning right and going to Talladega. I was on the gate (race 8) and walked over a few minutes after it happened and it did not look good at all. Sad

They life flighted him out. PRAYING he's OK.

My sincerest and best thoughts to the family and racer.

Hope to hear back on this forum with good news.

I joined this chat room just so I could inform of "Nick's" status. He is in bad shape. He's 11 y/o. One of friends was the first on scene. She said he had extreamly shalow brethhing, a bad pulse, his eyes were buldging out of his head, he lost the mahority of his teeth, and had heavy bleeding. They flew him out and immediately induced a coma. He is preped with bults in his head in the case they'll need to do emergency brain surgery due to the amount of swelling in his brain. Such a sad situation.

As far as hearing about this in a chat room....well boys, this IS part of the sport. And when your there and physically watch something like this go down, you'd be a cold heartless person if you did not immediately become emotionally involved.

Let's not forget that these kinda things are more likely to happen just driving around town. You count your blessings, pray for the family, and continue living. Our lives are in Gods hands and you never know when and if you'll be directly involved or impacted next.

wow that's horrible news, i wish him all the best in recovering to a healthy state.

a very close friend had a similar situation and ended up having a stroke. he will never be the same again and it's so sad to see happen, especially to someone so young.

best wishes to the young man and his family

I forgot to mention he was "out" for an extended amount of time immediately after the crash. So that in and of itself......just not good. His dad started smacking him trying to get him to wake up screaming "Stay with us Nick, damn it, stay with us!" Very heart wrenching! The whole back end of his bike was folded under and just totaled! His helmet was totally busted and the mom would hugging it tightly while being rushed to the chopper where she then flew off with Nick!

I knocked out the majority of my teeth racing when I was 12 years old and it was a life changing accident. I can't imagine recovering from an accident like he had then having to go through all the dental stuff. I'm Praying for this kid and his family too.

Yeah, I didn't want to post it because of the neanderthals on here, but this is Terry's kid, the same one that got pulled over driving that car on the freeway awhile back. He's a badass little speedway rider and a good kid from what everyone tells me. Fishback just called and was on his way to see him at Loma Linda Children's Hospital.

I sure hope he's ok.

Jesus name, Prayin for him to pull through, the Varner's to have their life turned around, and this kid to recover stronger than before! Like I said before, it would be good to have a section for injured riders and updates. If there is already, then I over looked it.

Nick is a very strong kid, I spent everyday of summer with him last year while I wasn't racing mx, he would ride mikes zuki 110 behind me while I was mountain biking up the never ending road by my house, he is in very bad condition, he hasn't woken up yet, I'll be seeing him at Loma Linda soon, he will make it threw with our positivity, I didn't realize this thread was about nick till I opened it, just pray for him and I'll keep u up to date on this.
