That's about $1k too high for a used '08. Aftermarket parts add zero to the value of the bike and usually indicate that it's been used hard.

You are better off with a new '08 CRF450 which are selling between $4,500-$5,000 right now.

Get whatever is pulling you to it. I bet you probably already know what bike you are going to buy, you just want confirmation that it rocks. If that bike happens to be a 09 or 10 Honda, I would not bother. I keep hearing lots of bad things about those bikes. Of course that could be coming from really picky people. I say get a brand new YZ250!

I love my 010 CRF450.....but I'm about 185lbs....a lot of lighter guys struggle with suspension balance. Personally I think the footpegs could be an inch or so further back. Would like to see a close up of what the factory guys are running....I know they aren't stock....my 92 YZ 80 had wider pegs than the stock ones....

I've ridden the '09 Kawi and the '09 Honda. I've learned that the "incredible throttle response" you read about in the reviews translates into "bike leaps as soon as you crack the throttle 1 degree open". They were both very difficult for me to ride coming off a carburated '07 RMZ450. The amount of throttle control necessary to ride them seemed like a lot, especially if you're coming off a 2 stroke or a carburated bike. I like to start to roll on the throttle mid corner, but couldn't do that with either of those bikes without either spinning out if it was a flat track type corner, or wheeling out of ruts. I also blasted through a couple of corners when I was braking in gear over braking bumps. I blipped the throttle just a bit due to the bumps, which sent the bike leaping forwards, just as I was about to initiate the turn. Not good.

I probably sound like an EFI hater, but I'm not. The great thing about EFI is no jetting, no bog, and really smooth power all the way up through the RPM range.

I ended up sticking with Suzuki, got a leftover '08 RMZ. No bog, no jetting, and not anywhere near the insane initial throttle response of the Honda or the Kawi. Great low-mid power, just put it in 3rd and ride, doesn't wear you out, very controllable and predictible.

Plus, it's the best cornering bike out there. Power is easy to add on, get a pipe and a remap, and you're ripping no matter what brand you get. But making a bike corner that doesn't corner is a pain in the ass. And being confident in the cornering ability of your bike is so fun. There is so much time to make up in the corners. The honda cornered like crap. The kawi was better, but nowhere near a zook.

Best 2010 450 is the KTM

best value is the 2010 KTM 250 smoker, 49 hp, 210 dry

the kaw 450s weigh like 240 dry, oink-oink

I've got a perfect '09 CRF for sale. I love the bike but have made a committment to not race so seriously now. I really want to try a 500 AF before I have to quit riding. Mine's on the bazaar forum for $5500. It has about 12 hrs on it. Rallendude at aol.com.

I had been on Hondas the last few years i rode ( up until 07' ) and for i think like 4 years.....the 18 years before that....was all kawasaki. If i can get onto a new bike this next summer , the KX is what i'll be getting.

An 08 is a much better bike than the 09 or 10. Don't trust me read MXA. The 09 and 10 have serious handling issues and it can't be solved by revalving suspension like a lot suggest. Too much work to make an 09 or 10 work right.

I'm 44, 6'3" race vet Int. The 08 was a very nice bike and with those mods would be a good deal if it doesn't have too much time.

If you were going to buy a new 09 get an RMZ, KTM, KXF, YZF, CRF in that order. Or do what ever the hell you want Smile

Where you located anyway?
