I've been in this sport for what I consider a fairly long time as an adult and I'm 45....I raced my first in 1994 at the Dallas Amateur Supercross(insert laughs now), and literally got my ass worked. But it was then that I fell in love with the sport in any way, shape, or form....I love it, I don't care what it is. I say all that to say this....I've had some serious injures to my back/spine....3 surgeries at my L5/S1 but there is hope guys even at a late age if you still love to ride but don't want to pop pain pills the rest of your life. As my last resort I went to the Back Institute in Plano Texas where Dr. Zigler replaced my God given disc with an artificial pro disc. Point to my story is that I have zero pain now and ride religiously, although not hucking the big gaps anymore!!! Ride boys, enjoy your life it's a beautiful day in Texas....."My favorite photo with my boy on the old KTM"

The surgery from what I was told was incredibly gnarly and risky (life threatening) due to the T4-T6 being just behind the heart and they would've had to deflate a lung to get in there.....just wondering if you had any surgery on your injury.
Had the assclowns at Riverside County Medical actually CAUGHT the goddam injury when it had just happened like I asked them to keep looking for, I knew something was wrong due I was completely numb from my belly button down for about 10 minutes.. turns out the wreck caused an edema on my spinal cord which is was caused the loss of feeling.
This was 7 years ago and im getting along just fine but that little break is forever in the back of my mind especially when I am riding. Will still "send" just about anything on a track except for the 4th pinned stuff Im just a little more cautious before I launch it.
Fractured my T6-T8 and the funny thing is my back feels better when I'm riding. Needless to say I try to ride as much as I can.
Thanks for the info.
I too have multiple fractures from a bad run in with a pissed off tree on a beautiful single track in CO. Was off the bike for 12 years and got back on 8 years ago and can't get enough of it. I am a Design Engineer that contracted to a small company many years ago in Monument Colorado by the name of Synthes, now a division of Johnson and Johnson. I was part of a small skunk works team the worked on some very cool projects to include Pro-disc and mini cnc bone mills for vertebrae repair from cadaver hip bones. I often wondered how many riders out there are running the pro-disc mod
BTW the surgery is no joke, they often choose to go in from the front
