Ok misleading topic but he could probably be out there if he wanted too. Not his thing probably but no doubt he’s major talented on a bike. Would just be getting his fitness up to par to compete with the top guys.

So the question is could he be a top contender and should he try?

After he had his injury his results weren’t great, and never really improved again. If he put in the work he could probably qualify MX, but I don’t think all the work in the world would make him competitive.

Talented, yes. In sx or mx, not a chance.

One race doesn’t make a career. Because the guy with the most future championship potential on that result sheet is McAdoo in last place. Bloss has shown speed in the 450 class, but championships look unlikely at this point.

There’s only a couple guys on that list even making money racing, and Axell is making good money by free riding and having fun riding bikes.

Two years before this, Axell finished 2nd to Plessinger in 450B, so Axell had speed to go with the talent, but a couple injuries (a femur being one of them) took a bit of that fire away needed to hang it out to push the pace at the front of the pack.

He would qualify, maybe have to race his way in. It’s disrespectful to the guys putting in the effort to race to say that a guy that freerides could be a top contender if he put in the work. He’s a amazing rider in his own right

Was just pointing out that he was in open and not just a c class couch racer like myself😂

No to both questions

They seem like two different things to me. I wouldn't expect a world-class gymnast- which is what Hodges is- to necessarily be a world-class runner.

Where do you get one million? I know one of his sponsors and it’s not big money compared to the top moto and SX guys

I know it’s hard for egos to accept but you’re dreaming if you don’t think he could qualify for a national or even a SX. Look at Bereman, he qualified for a SX a few years ago and I think even made a main if I remember correctly.

Are you guys serious? He’s a media dream for any sponsor. Look at all the endorsements he’s had over the years. He has a million followers on Instagram, which is a pretty decent following. These social media influencers now make very good money, a million is likely on the low end. And good for him for earning it, his bike talent is something you can find yourself re watching a zillion times in awe.

Its all about the money vs work/risk. Tell me you wouldn't do a 10hr work week vs 60hr for the same if not more money. That said knowbody will know his talent in 15yrs without proof of his accomplishments.

Axell is a great talent but I have never seen him actually do more than one lap. He and his filming buds just keep cutting the track and filming giant whips.

I'm sure he could be a decent racer if he ever applied himself, but he has so much talent in jumping the bike why would he take a step down to just grind out practice laps?

Not all talented dirt bike riders want to race.

And, unless he's hiding all his money, It's unlikely he is making a million a year, last I heard he is still living with his parents in Olivenhain and driving a beat up chevy van.

Not only that but doing a 60 hour work week and possibly losing money every week! I would go with the cash. It’s a business for these guys. Then a Sport

Right so he doesn’t make a good living because he drives a beat up van?

Talented enough to qualify for both, but he would go a lap down.

He won a C class title 🤣🤣
Yea he also made very respectable showings in the B and A class at Loretta's. How about you? He just wasn't quite as fast as the top guys so he chose another path that is clearly working for him.

I think my comment was taken wrong. Nothing about him. It's the curse of the C class. If you look back, you have to go to McGrath to find someone who won a C class Championship a LL and did anything in the Pros. Lots of reasons, but just crazy how many C class Champs quit once they get to be, or Pro Sport.

Some dudes would rather go big off jumps than scrub a jump... Just like in the auto racing world most guys who race hate drifting... Lap time vs style.

I'd way rather wake up and be in the metal mulisha or nitro circus and be able to chill with friends and go big on jumps than constantly battling and hating everybody on the track and worried about if my supercross team was going to drop my sponsorship for losing a race by .500 of a second.

Ricky C was known as being the biggest A hole ever, even to pastrana at the suzuki test track and wouldn't let him even on the same time in case he would "learn something." That's how you have to act if you want to be the best at racing... Not chill at all... But he is a Goat due to that competitive prick attitude.

Different types of personality's... I notice most guys are trying to race supercross on here... It's just two different styles of riding... Axell is a beast at what he does. Not knocking you race guys either.

I don’t have any evidence what he makes really.. but kawi, seven, bell, alpinestars, Toyota of Escondido, monster, Whatever Harley shop, Plus whatever other sponsers, plus all his social media stuff. Those companies all pay premium for exposure that he has made for himself.. I’m not taking away that the dude is a badass rider. But I think he makes more than y’all think, freeriding and have a good time doing it...
