So I went to pick up my payout for winning a moto in the Vet Pro class with a total of 5 riders. They handed me a envelope with $19 in it. I laughed and thought it was a joke. I have been racing the pro/exp class for 8 years with most my racing in California and Northern Nevada and it has always been at least 100%. Apparently this is the payout for this particular club.if seven riders enter and expert class and entry fees total $140, the first place rider in each moto receive $18 ($140x12.5%), the second place rider in each moto will receive $10 ($140x7.5%) and the third place rider in each moto will receive $7 ($140x5%); a rider who places first and third in the two motos will receive $25 for the day ($18 plus $7). What is everyone elses pro class payou?

seems low for winning even for the Vet class. the payout around here is and has been pretty decent the last 5 years or so. as i don't really race much anymore i can't really say how good/bad. my buddy won the +30 a few weeks ago with 12-15 guys and made over $100. but back in '02 and '03 (hard to believe that was 10-11 years ago) i would bring in close to $1k on a good weekend of winning both 125 and 250 pro classes. really though the big money is at fair races and that kind of thing.

I promote a race every year...it's an arena cross format. We pay out $3,000 to the pro class, with an extra $250 dash for cash.

1st - $700
2nd - $500
3rd - $400
4th - $300
5th - $175
6th - $150
and so on....down to 15th place - $50

So the winner can get $950 for a night of racing 15-20 laps on an arena cross track.

Thats pretty good these days. I make more in AX than MX. Seems like everyone in MS, LA, TN has dropped their payouts. Its all 80-100% and I remember when I first started riding pro everywhere was 200%. Kinda sucks cause it makes it hard to go race for guys like me that have a family and bills to take care of.

100% around here . But I'm not sure about the vet classes I think that's 80%. I haven't ran a race in a few years but all my pro classes payed 110%.

Most tracks in Indiana pay 80% for all A classes including vet A classes a few pay 100% but we have such low turnouts that im lucky to come close to breaking even after gas etc with only few guys in A classes.

Now some fair races around here and there pay lot better usually 100% for age classes and guaranteed for 250 and open A so I always look forward to those.

I have raced plenty of races where it was 100%-300% or a set purse. I just think it is a joke to pay a A class moto winner $19 when there were 5 of us. I should have at least got my entry fee back.

That is pretty crappy, trophy for C class probably cost close to that. Here they give trophies to our +40 class (no skill divisions), I think that's a joke, should be pay back.

Yeah that sucks for sure man they usually pay every 3 spots 5 riders they normally pay 1st and 2nd but around here in that case you would've got like 60-70 for 1st and 20-30 for 2nd probably

I have never gone to the starting line without knowing what I was racing for. If you are a Pro, local Expert or Vet A rider and you line up without knowing what the payout is, then you don't deserve to get paid. Every amatuer rider knows exactly how many places trophy every time they race. Why would you go to work and not know how much your wages are?

Because MX isn't a job, it's a hobby. Coming home with a few bucks in my pocket is a nice bonus but at the end of the day it's not much compared to the costs of racing. I'll just take whatever they give me and say thank you.

Wow a couple more wins and you can buy a spare spark plug and maybe a 10pk of tear offs, not laminates though.

100% minimum in all Expert classes for Western NY (both WNYMA and WNYRacing)
Increases to 200% based on total riders at the event.
Some special events have huge Pro purses. Prior to Unadilla, Derek Anderson (of Man vs. Moto fame) just cashed in on a 500% pay pack with a 1-1 with 29 Open Experts at Hogback MX ( www.palmyramx.com)
