What's with Austin chugging down tubes of sparkle dust between Moto's then turning up at press conference eating a tub of ice-cream?
Is this some new training regime where pro's hit up the local Dairy Queen as much as the gym?WhistlingWoohoo

They talked about it on the broadcast. Sugar for energy apparently.
I read an article about Austin’s Mom recently that said he tried to cut down his Dr. Pepper “habit” to 1-a-day. Frankly I think the ice cream and pixie sticks are just Austin trying to play with peoples heads a bit.

The candy is not a joke, pure science. 100% Dextrose which is the right thing he needs after a moto. Powder format melts quickly, little risk of uppsetting stomach instead of mixing it with water or doing premixed stuff.

Ice cream have carbs, sugar and protein. But there is other options that could give a few percentage more optimal intake so I think that is more of a statement, or if he is sponsored maybe.

Being 20 years old your body can run pretty good on anything.

A kid that age , and being the athlete he is , will burn through that stuff faster than a top fuel dragster. The other 95% of his diet is probably pretty clean , so on race night a little sugar aint going to hurt. It obviously works for him too.

I don't know what the purpose or aim of the thumbs up/down vote option was/is but I assumed it was so we could thumb down a post without posting a reply full of hate and spite. I'm sure GuyB could clarify.

Honestly, the only time I notice it is when someone mentions it.

I never realized some people were so sensitive to getting a thumbs down. It’s just a more efficient way of letting somebody know you disagree. Don’t take the Internet so serious.

Exactly, but since it was pointed out I went ahead and clicked a few downvotes...

Same as eating a Gu Gel or Gatorade Energy Chew. During ultra-marathons (anything over 26.2) elite runners will drink coke and eat M&Ms for energy.

If I went 1-1-1, I'd be eating any damn thing I wanted right after the race.

Pixie Stix is what he was eating.

Dr. Pepper is great!

I follow up my workouts with Haribo gummie bears, then a protein shake. There is science behind his pixie stick consumption.

At hundreds of race tracks around the world as we speak, there are thousands of kids consuming pixie stix as the new big thing.

I have the same opinion on the thumbs up/down , its so you can agree or disagree without wasting time writing and posting a response and also cutting down on these 20 pages threads by posting only in ones you feel strongly about or have something worth wild to add. But I guess these little girls like steed are just to sensitive for the bad internet bully's like us that down vote their posts. Angry

The snack bar at Sandhill Ranch use to sell the jumbo Pixie Stix that were the size of your arm when I was a kid. Way ahead of their time!

Taking a page out of Kennys book when he was trolling Baker eating pizza and drinking beer.

I love it. Our local market has a giant bulk food section for people who cook and bake and stuff like that. A huge ass bag of dextrose (or anything really) is a few bucks.

Yes, tried one in the canyon heading down into Sedona from Flagstaff. Awesome Strawberry milk shake.
Always remember Johnny O'Mara banning a chubby RC from Dairy Queen when he became his trainer!

Years ago my wife insisted that I eat some expensive foo foo energy bar before a 2 hour HS race. It said it was peanut butter flavor but I swear they just packaged a big old turd. Bounced around in my gut like a brick and I needed a coat hanger to dig it out 3 days later. MickyD sausage egg and cheese macmuffin never did me dirty like that thing did.

I remember my first Dr Pepper. I was pretty small but it was amazing. maybe 1963 or 64.

The mix is supposed to be different in the south and some people bring it back by the case when they travel there.

I don't drink soda much but once in awhile a Dr Pepper hits the spot.

Not sure about the Dr. Pepper, and I'm not much of a pop or cola guy, but I was down in Fort Irwin a few years ago, and the food trucks that show up out in the training area had Coke in glass bottles, one of the guys said it tasted different than up here. It was for sure different, I nearly got hooked on the stuff... Don't think I've had more than 2 cokes in the 9 years since.
