Surprised not to see a topic on this...or am I missing it somewhere? I see Anderson won, Wilson 2nd, and Reardon 3rd with Justin Brayton winning the Championship.

Any other news?

Jay Wilson won his first SX2 title. Pretty impressive since 2016 and 2017 were kind of a struggle fest for him after he won the Australian MX2 MX title in 2015. Cameron McAdoo won the SX2 overall for the AUS-X Open, though (he was filling in for Bradley Taft on the Honda team).

That's about it besides Reed getting penalized in the final race for using the joker lane again (they were only allowed to use it once over the course of the three races, not once per race). Sounds like Reed either forgot or didn't know about that. Anderson and Wilson looked pretty good in all three races.

El Homie stretched out a good lead in the 2nd final and looked clearly faster than than the rest but the 1st and 3rd not as much. Looked like he let Reed win the last final when Reed jumped into the lead from the joker, given the circumstances of the home town maybe and lock up of the overall already. Pretty sure Reed knew it too but was just taking the chance to grab some limelight. I saw El Homie and Deano looking to be talking about that straight after the flag as everyone had used their joker by the 2nd final and they had to know that also.
Brayton looked good and did what he needed too and stayed out of trouble. He was a bit faster than Reed in their heat and looked to settle for a safe 2nd and mains entry with Reed riding a wide bike to good effect and not being able to find an easy way around. Look for good results from him next year.
Wilson looked good but a bit off El Homie's pace and rode to pretty consistent 2nd place overall and boot full of bubbly and his own foot sweat after the last race (did the customary shoey)
Reardon was the fastest of the hometown boys and even clocked the fastest time in super pole. He had a good night and looked fast all night.
The SX2 250's were where all the real action was and back in the minor placings with some really close racing, paint swapping and passing. Those boys went at it with McAddo looking very fast all night. If you get to see some select racing make sure you watch those first.

Anderson had the fastest lap of the night with a 31.058 in the second race, followed by Reed 31.066, Wilson 31.126, Brayton 31.402 and Reardon 31.522.

Biggest thing for me last night watching was watching the riders struggle with traction... except Jason Anderson. It was ridiculous how much better he was in the corners... He was consistent everywhere else, and probably raced the back rhythm section well too, but he looked like he had wet dirt under his knobbies and everyone else had greasy ice.

Yes with shortcut. It was 1.5-2 secs quicker.

Yeah it was wet greasy and shiney at the start although it did dry out as the night went on. I did see JA sliding around a bit though, especially coming into the right hander after finish jump. He was doing a two wheeled slide into that a fair bit I saw from where I was sitting above the titted DJ and dancing monkey's. Looked dry and loose by the finals where Reed slid out in the first final before the finish.

Interesting with him spending more time in LA on moon dirt.

The rest spend more time on east coast dirt possibly.

It was visually noticeable. Reed's bike looked skatey everywhere.... He didn't get great traction through the whoops at times and he was definitely unsettled in the corners. He's typically good on those conditions.

Reardon's practice track looks like dust and marbles and he was super quick too and looked very comfortable doing it.

Or, emotionally and financially bankrupt.... The fictional character may be starting to take a toll on the real character.
Anyway.....i really enjoy seeing how long he consistently keeps the character going before complete burnout.
