Finally got over to check out the Ascot raceway exhibit at Cal State Northridge. Ends Oct 13th. Not as much stuff as I had hoped to see but what they had was peaty cool. Dissapointed no MX stuff. I first went there in 1969. Went to lots of sprints, midget, and flat track races in the 70s and 80s but surprisingly in hindsight we raced MX there.
Joe Leonard HD flat head.
Cal Rayburn HD.
Doug Chandlers RS750. Checking out the trick works parts on this thing up close was worth the trip.
The famous Tamale Wagon with a super rare Moser 4 cam 302 Chevy.
Offenhauser. No roll cage no power steering, just a big set of balls. Nothing made a better sound than an Offenhauser according to my Dad.
I met Scott Parker but he didn't have much to say.
Anyone that went to speedway races in the 70s remembers Wild Bill Cody. Speedway was huge in SoCal back then.
Evel did his first televised jumps at Ascot. This was a huge leap back then.

Thank you for sharing. Spent many of Friday nights there with CMC and I couldn't agree more with you. It really seems that most forget there was motocross raced there weekly.
I really miss that place, it's near my work and I drive past it every so often and it's such a shame to see it now in it's current state as a used car salvage lot.
