Its not that I dislike Ralph and Jeff as people but god listening to them do sx is mind numbing.
Ping hit the nail on the head. All they do is rattle off how important the start is over and over, Ralph talks about what he sees and instead of Jeff giving any insight he usually just repeats whatever Ralph just said.
I actually find myself rooting for Ralph and Jeff because I think Jeff's ability to overcome his speech impediment to become a professional commentator is one of the best human interest stories in our sport. Talk about beating adversity...
But I would love it if they brought David Baily in to be the third man in the booth, even if it's just for one race.
Man, those were the days. They put you right there in the action.
Agreed. Art had this innate ability to get you pumped for a race you already knew McGrath was going to win. His and Bailey's style complimented each other so well.
I might be in the minority here (VAST minority? lol) but I wasn't a fan of Bailey commentating. I loved listening to Eckman though.
Bailey, to me at least, spent way to much time talking about how great the top rider is (McGrath, then Carmichael)...He spent way to much time praising them and it always kind of annoyed me.

Me as well. I like listening to Emig. Ralph, we could replace.
Let's keep this about how awesome Art Eckman and David Bailey were instead of a Ralph and Jeff bash session.
I'll leave this hear for you...

Art and David in the final era of two stroke Supercross. It does not get any better than that for me. I play these old races on youtube on the tv in my garage while working on my bikes. It is my happy place.
I'm a huge fan of Art and David. That said, their races - especially outdoor motos - were edited short. Thus, all the dull moments removed. Maybe somebody else would know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could overdub since the races were aired the following that week.
That said, Art and David did an outstanding job. I met Art when I was 11 at the Dallas SX. He was super nice and friendly. Also, mad respect to all our announcers today. Mute any moto and do some commentary during the race as an experiment. Those guys make it sound way easier than it is.
Jim Lampley that announced the old Carlsbad USGP's and I believe superbiker's as well. To me...Jim's voice just had that special something , that when he spoke...you listened. I guess that's why he's announcing for HBO boxing now. The guy was awesome.
But Bailey too....awesome to listen too , and his insight and experience....was very hard to beat.

Those were my favorite two.
I'm in the same boat, The USGP that Ricky Johnson won ane Lampley was announcing was killer. Remember the days of "Make hay while the sunshines"? good o'le Myer

Langston Weege and Georgia are my favs hands down. Ralph and Emig are alright too just seem a little corny when they both over hype it all the time. Like it's some insane circus show or something.

Also miss WindTunnel with Dave Despain.

Also not sure why Emig is not doing outdoors. I like him better than Langston.
