Arnaud Tonus AT200

Edited Date/Time 2/20/2015 12:44am
After qualifying well and finishing well in his heat I expected AT200 to be a little further up in the main. He doesn't look to be lacking any SX skill or speed especially since he is a true rookie.

Davalos blew into him in the second turn. It's funny, even when I avoid picking Davalos he still royally fucks up my fantasy league.

No Davalos went down in the turn and Tonus ran into a tuff block while trying to get around him. He went from about 18th to what, 8th? Thats not a bad recovery

It looked to me like Davalos caught Bogle's rear wheel with his front.

And I'm sure you have pics to prove it!

Nope, but I did watch the video...and with an open mind. Wink

I talked with some of the Monster Energy Kawasaki guys today at the airport on the way home, and they said that there was contact between Trey and Davi (that their own video shows).

Tonus performed quite well considering his dismal start. He looked smooth and confident, and his grace under pressure underscores his GP experience. He definitely has more in the tank and a podium finish this year isn't far-fetched.

Yeah, Tonus was off the track and bike for little while, so an 8th all things considered is a lot better than I would have guessed!

He went from 19th on the first lap to 8th and also went down on lap 7 and dropped to 16th. So from 16th to 8th in 8 laps doesn't seem so bad in his first ever AMA SX.

Tonus started very well, had he not been pushed off the track, he likely would have gotten a top 5 finish last night. Look for him to come out swinging in Atlanta next week.

He obviously has some ability but going from 18 to 8th proves very little. He is a factory rider on an ass kicking bike. The only guys he beat were a bunch of guys operating out of a van. Any full factory rider should at least be in the top 5. Having said that I do believe he will get on the podium a few times this year and be a top 5 outdoor rider.

tonus has a typically french style ( i know he is swiss, but its 10 minutes away ) and looks effortless everywhere, barring injuries i think he will run very well outdoors, as for SX, i dont really remember him doing much european SX, maybe because of injuries.

Showed he has the speed in qualifying , but like GP's needs a start.

How about passing the guy who almost won the championship last year for that 8th place?

I think 8th is a very respectable finish for your first ever AMA Supercross.

Definitely impressive. Pretty much no footage of him during the main as he wasn't up with the top guys, but (as I'm sure with everyone here) I was keeping an eye on his progress via the lap scoring. An 8th considering his problems isn't at all bad and his speed in practice also pointed to a lot of potential. Hoping he can stay healthy and progress from here.

I think he'd have been on the podium last night if he hadn't have got caught up on the first lap. He looked really impressive all day.

I don't keep up with the GP's very much so I don't know much about him. Watching him through all of the practices I can say that the dude has major potential. With a good start and staying out of trouble he can easily pull off a win. For a GP guy he looked damn good through the hoops too.

Didn't realise Davalos, Peters, Nichols, Rodriguez, Renzland etc raced out of a van. They have very good equipment for that. Whistling

Try typing his name with spellcheck!!!!
Just messing with you. I do get aggravated when everyone uses initials and numbers for everybody. Just like the field is stacked and he's on fire.

Yep cause you could throw anybody on a factory bike and they could tame that track and go from 18th to 8th. Whistling

I believe Tonus went down twice in the main event aside from the start. I don't recall if it was once before and after the red flag. Or if both were after.

Tonus crashed 3 times. 2nd corner with Davalos, by the wall about mid-way through, and then clipped some tuff blocks by the wall towards the end (didn't actually hit the ground but nearly spun out). He did pretty good to work his way back each time.

Well first off, there are 10 factory riders in the class so that makes your "should be top 5" statement a little irrelevant. Second he beat several riders that don't operate out a van.

Davalos- Factory
Peters- Factory
Nichols- Factory
Renzland- Near Factory Level Bikes
Rodriguez- Factory
Alix- Factory

Not to mention the privateers that don't operate out of a van.

I think he has potential to do well. Let's watch a few more races and see how he does. Really wish PC Kawi could have some success again.
