Only $10 for all 2024 SX, MX, and SMX series (regularly $30).
You just have to be on the lookout!
Bought about $400 in parts for it and plan to sell it for around $2000-2400 when I finish with it. It is a sellers market!
My main piece of advice would be to do your research on parts availability. Had I done so, I'd have bought a later model which has a few more parts available.
The Shop
Ended up finding a 2007 CR125 for $2000, and put about $400 into it to get it "ride able". Here is a pic of my YZ the day I sold it for a reference, bike also had a 139 kit on it.

Recently bought an 03 CR250 (blown barrel) and an 09 CRF450 (blown transmission) as a donor bike. Did a fork swap and currently the total for that project is about $3700 but the bike has a brand new engine basically. Once I sell more parts the total cost should be around 3k for a fresh bike.
Annoyingly, you just need to watch out for deals. As I only buy Hondas right now I have heaps of small parts that together would cost a lot but aren't really sellable either. Great for buying beat up bikes!
A few years back when AUD and USD was equal you could make a mint on fixing up bikes. Nowadays you have to be smart about how you do it.
Pit Row
I put about $300 into it so far including new radiators, levers, clutch cable, bars and sone othe odds and ends.
Also picked up a blown 00 yz 250 a few years ago that I completely tore apart to rebuild. I have $350 into that plus now accumulating parts. I want to do a MC Chapparel replica with the 250 and a YoT with the 125.
Given the second hand prices nowadays, I'd probably just buy a new YZ125 and stick a 144 kit on it. The YZ144 I rode was an awesome machine.
I just can't ride 4 strokes, I was open minded to them and tried quite a few, but they suck around 50% of the enjoyment out of the sport for me. The weight, the noise, the engine braking, it all just feels wrong - I'd actually be prepared to pay significantly more for a new 2 stroke compared to a thumper, the fact they're even slightly cheaper is fine with me.
Post a reply to: Are people actually buying these over price used 125's?
