Other than Zach osbourne, any other current top riders using arai.? Its a great product, just not many top dudes using them. Not sure if this is the case, that arai does not sponsor riders, or was that a rumor a few years ago.Or do the other helmet companies have deeper pockets to pay the top guys?

The only one that was wearing them for a long time was Windham, but then he made the $witch to $hoei. Honestly I still dont believe that helmet will protect you any better than a good mid range Snell rated helmet, and other helmets hurt much less to replace when you use up the 1 impact they are good for.

Does Arai have many models and do they market them to MXers aggressively? I own a high end Arai street helmet and it is by far the best fitting, lightest, quietest and is the most well made helmet I've ever owned. I doubt I will ever buy any other brand for the street. Funny I never really considered Arai when I was looking at an MX helmet. Wonder why?

Maybe price is an issue. Arai MX helmets sell here in Canada for between 6 and 8 hundred dollars. That big cake for a dirty helmet.

I remember someone saying Arai dont pay for people to wear their helmets in MX/SX, so if they are wearing them its by choice.. If B-Hep and TP wore them when they had the choice out of every helmet brand I take it they are a superior helmet.

Yea they have a nice selection of moto lids, graphics maybe not on par with the others, but plain black and white can be hooked up with paint or stickers. vfw-x pro model, like you said , not cheap but quality is not cheap.

I've had several Arai street and dirt helmets.. I agree they are great; well made, and fit great... The only down side I've noticed is the limited goggles that fit well with the VX Pro.. The face guard is smaller and closer to your face, so goggles with a nose protector usually wont work or at a minimum are difficult to put on.. I've been drinking the shoei kool-aid lately..

This is a good point. I wonder what guys consider a decent knock when their helmet is in the $400+ range? Wonder if there are guys subconsciously / stubbornly hanging onto them just because they cost so much to replace. Telling themselves "Ah, that knock wasn't SO bad" etc.

Regals wearin Arai again this year and sincerly believe if I would have had one on in a crash in the 1000 don't know for sure if I would have been in a coma. Had to wear another brand due to sponsor conflict but always wore them b4 and after. Big dent in their marketing/race effort is letting Bruce Porter go at the end of this year. Too bad as he has been the one behind their effort for prbly 20-25 years.

I wear arai helmets and they are superior to any other helmet I've ever worn. I won't wear anything else. They are amazing.

I loved my arai, when it came time to buy a new one, I could not come to terms with the 600+ price tag (I got a Bell) for a helmet that will get blasted with rocks. The only complaint was the liner and lack of air flow made it kinda hot, but not too bad.

Every head and helmet are different, but for my dome, nothing fits and feels like an Arai.

Exactly why I wear a $1200.00 carbon Arai.

Same here Ricky... got tired of getting concussions from the mid-range helmets I used to have (e.g. HJC, M2R, etc.). After going through a couple Arais, I am convinced of their superior quality and will gladly pay the $600 price tag.

After switching to Bell for one season, we went back to Arai with these $1000 a piece badboys. Best helmets, period.

The price tag of high end helmets (Arai and Shoei at least) isn't just for the helmet, you have quality service as well. When I hit my head last year I wasn't sure if I should replace it or not so I sent it to them and they inspected it free of charge. Turned out it was still safe to use.

My son will be wearing an Arai helmet for SX and MX this year. He is supported by the 529 Foundation who in turn is helped by Arai. Joey has had Fox, MR2 and fly helmets and since switching to Aria would never wear anything else!

Nah, can't go wrong with a FOX helmet. Worn them all my life and won't change any time soon..

Pricing is the main issue, especially for us brits. Here's what we'd pay for helmets..

Shoei vfx-r $683.17
Troy lee SE3 $589.82
Arai VX3 $729.42

Can't get a Bell moto 9, but I imagine the price would be ridiculous.

Whereas V3s are:

Normal style $341.49
Monster $380.22
Carbon $419.05

Half the price for the most winningest helmet.. Ever!

I'm looking at an AGV ad with Pastrana in it, on the right side of this page.

Have you guys ever thought the helmet companies gouge the fuck out of the prices. If I bought a 500 dollar helmet I would have to skip 2 months worth of riding. Plus they all pass the same tests, So probably just paying for the name.

I went over the bars flat out in 4th and landed on my head, It was a seriously heavy impact. I was wearing an Arai and I didnt have a headache and I wasnt knocked out,

They cost more for a reason. I wont wear anything else.

I understand what your saying though Smile
