According to TMZ.com, child star Rippy was riding his dirt bike when he crashed, and has sustained broken ribs and a punctured lung.
He was near his home in North Carolina when the accident occurred.
Rippy, now 42, was the adorable little boy in the Jack In The Box commercials of the seventies. He grew up to become a producer and writer.
Rippy has his own website full of great photos, including one from the American Music Awards in 1974, a show created by Dick Clark in 1973. Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond co-hosted the first award show with Rodney Allen Rippy and Ricky Segall.
According to Wikipedia, at the age of five, Rippy became the youngest person ever to make any Billboard music chart just by giggling in a commercial, then making an album called Take Life A Little Easier based on that giggle.
He was often on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the Dinah Shore show, and made tons of guest appearances in all of the hit television series of the time (Six Million Dollar Man, Marcus Welby MD, the Odd Couple, etc.), and even before Jack in the Box commercials had a bit part in the movie Blazing Saddles.
