Morning guys, I have been a mechanic for years but have zero experience on these CX50's.

My problem is that the clutch is engaging late. We busy on a turn track and when the little dude rolls the throttle on there is nothing.. then it suddenly kicks in.

All the special little tools to adjust the clutch arrived yesterday so I'm ready for any advise.

Thank you kindly all.

The amazing thing with cobra is you can actually call the factory direct and get support. (517) 437-9100

You can also use their Dealer locator and one of their dealers would be happy to help as well. https://cobramoto.com/dealer-locator/

Thanks buddy, I've just downloaded the workshop manual, so I'll torque the unit down to 108nm and take it from there.

You will figure it out once you get the tool. But be aware it might be well within the range of what they designed for. The race 50s run what seems like crazy high rpm clutch engagements. They have a really aggressive power hit and can't really be ridden in a low rpm range without burning up clutches.

Every time I see a kid freshly on one, it's the Yo-yo throttle situation as they under-rev, hit the power, and then shut it down as it gets away from them.

Exactly what the situation is here. I have the clutch torqued to a 108nm.

The kid is struggling around the turn track and even worse is the crazy Dad is running around shouting and swearing....which pisses both the kid and myself off. I'm at wits end...

Anyways..I'll just have to suck it up.

You can change the clutch stack or easier to do gearing. But it's a race bike and the boy will need to learn to ride it.

Yeah they are a race bike, like others have said there are different washer configurations for different power.
