Kawasakis seem to have terrible resale on the used market. I always see them for sale much cheaper than Yamaha, Honda, and KTM/Husky. Lots of crazy deals on new ones too (which I imagine effects the used market). Guess the dealers have a hard time selling them. They seem to be great bikes though, but I have no hands on experience with them. Always been about the blue and orange/white for me.

Have my 17 for sale for 5,000 and no one even messages me or even comes to see it. I work at a Kawi dealer and have never understood why cause they're not prone to major issues like some other brands, they don't have any crazy trick parts stock but they hold together and seem to not hold value. Great for someone who wants a lightly used bike but sucks when time t sell

Crazy good bikes, saw them at $5999 brand new leftover 2017 450. Great deal.

I have a 16 and I love it. All stock except Factory Connection revalved with the SKF glide kit, FMF 4.1 RCT exhaust, and works connection perch.

I'm thinking of upgrading to an 18 next spring and swapping my parts over.

I sold a 2015 with over 100 hours on in August. it was a great bike, never let me down and ran great. Put in a piston at roughly 65-70 and it did not need it at all. Cheap OEM top end as well, no discount purchased through Rocky Mountain ATV.

I have a 16 with a FC suspension setup and PC ECU, I love it!!! I was thinking about going with a FC 350 next year but have decided to go ahead and keep it and get the PC exhaust, PC spring conversion for the fork and maybe the GET wifi ECU and just run it.... it only has 25 hours on it so I may as well just keep it!!'

Great bike, good deal,go for it!! Maybe the resale price is lower because of your area or the fact that "new" there not that much money. If you pick one up for 6,000 and sell it for 4,500 the next year it would be the same as paying 11,000 for a Ktm FE and selling for 9,500. Which i could never understand buying a used bike for that much money. Buy your self 2 Kawis for the one Ktm

Kawasakis are solid bikes man. They dont have the glitter like ktms do but theyre reliable as fuck. Ive owned kawis for years and never have issues.

I have a '16 KX 450 with ~60 hours on it. I did the valves 10 hours ago and it's fine. I had FC revalve and I stuck with the air forks, and its 100% better. They are growing on me. I'm tall so the ergos fit me very well. I heard the next gen's will have spring fork + e-start. I'll prob ride mine another year and get the new Kawai if that's the case.

If you can find new 17 leftover less than 6 grand, go for it.
I just came back to Kawi after 10 years, bought new 2017 leftover(18 model would have been cheap as well, but its the same bike so I chose 17 model). Right away I put the spring cartridges to the fork, Akrapovic pipe(STD coupler works best for me with Akra), 55Nm rear spring and pegs to the lowest position. After half a lap bike felt already comfortable.
If you are taller guy like me(6´3), you will like the ergos, motor has some good bark right at the bottom and mid but it doesnt have KTM punch at the top.
I came from CRF450 2017 and SX-F450 2017 so can compare to those two.

CRF450 2017 vs KX450 2017
-Ergos are pretty similar, both are pretty good for taller rider but Kawasaki is a tad roomier as you can lower the pegs
-Power is in the same range, Kawasaki has better bottom and mid, but Honda has better topend power
-Clutch is similar feel and if you are heavy on the clutch you will propably need Hinson for both.
-Suspension is better on Kawasaki, allthough I havent ridden the original Airfork. Rear shock is much better at Kawa, usually I have to revalve the shock, but its the first time in years that I feel that correct spring is enough for rear end
-Kawasaki is lighter bike and you can feel the difference at track

SX-F450 2017
-KTM cockpit has been designed clearly for shorter riders. The height between seat and pegs is much less at KTM(2106->up, old frame was roomier) and when you sit with these two bikes side by side, you can instantly see the difference as your knees are bent much much more at KTM
-KTM has way more power, especially on top. I had FMF 4.1 pipe on my KTM and I could launch this bike at 4.gear on some corners and with Kawasaki there is just not enough power to do that.
-KTM has better clutch
-Suspension is a tough one, as I liked the AER fork exept on a slap down landings. Rear shock is better on Kawasaki
-KTM is lighter bike, but weight feels similar on track. Maybe the KTM front end was little lighter due airfork

The cons on the Kawasaki is that already at 8 hours, the wear starts to look on plastics. I have owned almost all the brands and I think that Kawasaki looses his "fresh look" first on a new bike. Chain guide and slider are already worn and needs to be replaced soon. Original footpegs started to look worn also, I think I will replace them with some Ti pegs.

Overall, easy bike to ride and crispy fairly well powered motor. Good solid bike.

Kawasaki seems to pretty much give them away when the new model comes out. I bought one only cause I think the lime green looks really cool and it kick starts (250) real easy. Not a e-start fan. Other than that they are all the same to me, but I dont race. Id prolly continue to stock with Kawi since new ones are cheap and close outs are really cheap.

17 owner here.bone stock except for my Ohlins forks. Wouldn't ever consider selling it. Rock solid bike. 27 hours and zero issues. Best bike to date. All the way back to my 83 CR60. Had some hang ups about the air forks however. Get a spring conversion and enjoy the ride. Hope this helps.

Exactly. Nobody wants to F with the stupid complex things. Few people want to have to dump $ into spring conversions immediately when buying a new bike either. WTF were they thinking???

That's why Kawasaki 450's have been blown out on ebay and by various big volume dealers at around $6k for the last 4-5 years. I have been a Kawasaki 450 rider since 09. Have had a bunch of them, the last few I have gone out of my way to put Kayaba spring forks on. Im very seriously considering a Yamaha 450FX now, though. Im done screwing around with changing forks
