I'm looking for a way to try and condition my forearms for the early season motos. I usually suffer pretty bad from arm pump for the first month or so of riding. Has anyone seen or tried one of these?

We don't have one of those but I do a ton of core work and functional training 5 days a week and have spin class 3-4 nights a week (road and mtb when the weather is nicer) so cardio isn't my problem, I'm just prone to arm pump. Always have been. Although, cardio does help but not much.

Go to the rock climbing gym if there is one near you. Best forearm workout there is.

Concept Rowers are pretty darn popular amongst the moto crowd.

There's a bit of info out there on how they work as a great training tool for motocross riders.

This Racer X Virtual Trainer page has a list of workouts for riders.

Worse thing you could do imo . Your for arms dont need to be strong to ride a MX bike . In fact the stronger your forearms are the worse your armpump will be . Bigger muscles equal less space between the fasica ,which equals less blood flow which equals arm pump. Loads and loads of cardio is the only training off the bike that helps

Stronger muscles decrease the need for anaerobic respiration in the forearm muscles causing a buildup of lactic acid which is the cause of the pain, then you dont have to flush out as much.

Concept Rower is the way to go if you wan't an rower. Almost all the major gyms her in Finland use them and they are actually really fun to work out with(lots of variation). I would love to have one in private but the Model D is about 1100€.

Quite likely that your arm pump is caused by holding on too tight. The further into the season you get the more relaxed you become thanks to time on the bike and you don't grip the bars so tight and hence your arm pump isn't as much of an issue.

100% for me. I'm off the bike for 6 months at a time, the first few weeks back are rough, then it gets better.

That's entirely possible. I also get less arm pump when I'm in an intense battle for the whole moto. I seem to always get it early on in the season or anytime I'm all alone in a moto with no one to battle with.

how's your diet? potassium will help with arm pump

I eat fairly clean. I keep a close eye on carbs, sugar, saturated fat and sodium and I rarely if ever eat out. But this is something I never considered. I will experiment with this this summer and see if it helps.

I have not either.

But I am wondering how well it works also.

This looks along the lines of magnetic bracelets.

Or a cock ring pain device. Wtf is that thing supposed to do? Create so much pain you forget about the Arm pump?
I have some C clamps in the garage. Would those suffice?

Try this setup:

Won't get arm pump, and also ideal for anyone with past right wrist injuries.

Dirtbike bars on the rower.....of course. Row 3000 meters. Ride road bike for 40 miles. Row 3000 when you get back.

Hurts so good. Also with great rowing technique it really feels like you rode that day. Like that first ride after a long winter. Sore AF.

Some call it a rowing machine. I call it the most efficient and addictive self inflicted torture machine ever devised by man.Laughing

Don't you think you should find out what your potassium levels are first? Perhaps lean what potassiums role is in the body.

If ever in doubt attach the following four letters NCBI to the front of any google search to find RESEARCH on the topic.

The Theraband Flexbar is for tennis elbow (pray you never get it).

The 4 Arm Strong is so you can do ART (active release technique) on yourself.

Here's my advice and what I do, go buy a lacrosse ball for $2.50, go on Youtube and look at
videos of forearm myofascial release or forearm trigger point therapy. It changed my life.

Do it before riding, inbetween motos if needed and at night. Found my root problem was my shoulder, not my forearm actually.
I perform the release with lacrosse ball in my scapula area and it's heaven when you hit the muscle that twitches
20 times and releases all the tension in your entire arm.

There's a whole science to this, but it's simple really. Research and stay away from Orthopedic Surgeons.
