Apparently BQ on an electric yz450f? No other details I’ve been able to find, just this one shot from MXA

Looks like an aftermarket “kit” to me. Yamaha would not have the front sprocket unprotected and that far from the swingarm pivot.

I know that they’re “very far into development” even as of about 9 months ago

That’s pretty cool, but let’s see it on a track under a good rider like BQ. That video of fields and roads in jeans and cheap work boots did nothing for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yamaha hasn't been sitting on their hands when it comes to electric.

I'm really surprised it wouldn't have one of these in it:

Hate it or love it, this is the future..
i love these types of comments like every motor sport will be changing over to electric overnight one day. I am not for it or against it but do people really believe the world is going to change all these professional huge money making industries over to electric? Why wouldn't some motorsports get a exceptions to emissions considering the fraction of output they have compared to the ones really making an impact on the environment.

I think MX and SX will be gas powered for longer than anyone currently on these forums, i bet they start to bring in electric classes like they already have in some places expanding the industry but i dont see a "suck it up deal" situation coming out this when motorsports begin to do their part in the fight against climate change.

Why do electric mx bikes have to be the future and not a option for those who want them ? I think there would be less negativity towards them if they was marketed this way......

They have to be the future because four strokes had to be the future. Face it, if you showed up at a moto track in 95 on a 4 stroke you were an oddball. Today if you show up on a 2 stroke you are an oddball. In 35 will guys that ride an ICE bike be oddballs? Probably.

The simple undeniable fact is an electric motor is a better powerplant:
It has mondo torque and 100% of that torque is available at idle.
It is quiet which is a thing
It can be one speed which leaves less for your body to do and less for your brain to process which means you go faster
You should be able to ride longer because no gyroscope between your legs you have to fight
Far less moving parts to break

The only way a 2 stroke beats electric is it's so damn cool.

The only downside as of now to electric is figuring out batteries. Electric power is superior, electric fuel is worse.

Ya know.... people think it is the future... why?? Because of Tesla on the car side... but really... electric is super old.. there were electric cars in the early 1900s....

Electric isn't cleaner than gas.... nor is it as easy to ride.... brushless motors make max torque at zero rpm, thus making them hard to ride without major electronic management...

The Future is zero point energy... electric is just another way to get people's money...

Normally they use a jackshaft for further reduction so you don't have to walk on the line of sprocket size absurdity. For whatever reason, they went with direct drive, which leaves no choice but to get stupid with sprocket sizes.

He's riding a prototype. They are dialing in the final drive so it baselines to the power of a 450f gas powered so when you go buy a 450.. getting the electric or gas version, the performance and power should feel the same/similar is what I heard. I'm all for the electric, it would give up more riding area opportunities.
