These babies were made by the same guys who produced the Sidewinder Sprocket. I don't think I actually ever saw one on anyones bike but I have to admit back in the 80's I though it might be cool to get a day-glo orange pipe to go on my orange and green 87 Tuff Kawasaki KX125. Got to love the 80's

The TUf bikes looked great in their day...I still have my '86 KX 125, which I bought new in '86!

I had one (uncolor treated) on my 1982 Suzuki RM125. It was the biggest power improvement I ever got out of that bike, even over a bore and porting by my favorite engine guy Eric Gorr.

I am picking up another old RM125 this weekend and have spent the past 2 days looking for a Krause Kannon Pipe for it with no avail. So if I cannot locate a Krause Kannon Pipe I will remain with the stock pipe over any other pipe out there for it. That is how much I believe in the Krause Kannon pipe on 1982 Suzuki RM125's.

Vic Krause please check deep in your warehouse. Please.

I posted this in another thread last summer but it's worth another laugh....

Back in the late 80's a buddy of mine ordered a pipe from Krause for an RM500. A week later he comes home from work and there's a box on the front porch. Doesn't look big enough for a pipe so he assumes it's something else. Opened that bitch up and sure enough it was a pipe for an '84 RM500, some assembly required. There was not one welded part in the box, only a bunch of stamped steel pieces. He had to figure out how it went together and weld it up himself.

I think that is the most crazy and most funny MX story I have ever heard. Lol. I would of been on the phone with V.A. Krause immediately.

When I ordered mine for the 1982 Suzuki RM125 way back in the day, I ordered the matching Krause Kannon Silencer, but when it came it was either a Answer Silencer or a DG Silencer (before they had the Type II badge stamped on them) and there was a note along with saying "we ran out of Krause Kannon Silencers but this Silencer is the same thing. Lol. I worked just fine and I didn't have any issues.

It always made me wonder if Krause Kannon Pipes and Silencers were Answer Pipe and Silencers. If you remember around that same time, Answer started making Exhaust Pipes and had Johnny O'Mara in a few of the ads.

I remember the ads, but like OP said, I don't remember seeing many if any of them at the track! I think we put one on an 85 CR 250, it did away with the ATAC valve or something weird like that?

I had a Krause Cannon on my 83 YZ80. It was a crude, unfinished cone pipe with only like 5 cones and big angular welds.

I tried the Sidewinder sprockets and they worked well for me.
those weighed more than the entire back wheel.

Haha I had a support ride/sponsorship with Krause/sidewinder in 1991, I thought they were cool because they had sprockets in anodized colors.

Terrible company. Gave em a shot for chain and sprockets back in 98 and the sprocket actually twisted and destroyed my rear hub. Guy was all just send it back for us to evaluate and we will get you a new wheel and chain /sprokets. Never could get em to answer my calls emails or get a call back. Fuck Krause!

Great find! I forgot about that shit. I did buy a chain sprocket combo for my 89 YZ125 I think. I do remember it lasted forever and still looked new after a lot of abuse. Never tried the pipe.

Man, I remember those Mr. Know It All colums in Dirt Bike Magazine back in the 80! I actually had Krause airboxes on a RM125 and a RM250.

During the Krause pipe era, my riding group used the phrase:
"Friends don't let friends wear NEON!"

I guess I am just an all around Krause Racing/Sidewinder Racing fan.

I raced a 1988 Honda CR125 for 3 seasons and even lent it out to other guys to race. When the rear sprocket and chain wore out (first month I got it) I put on a Sidewinder Chain and 53 Tooth Rear Sidewinder rear sprocket (that thing never fell off pipe with that big rear sprocket on it. Lol). After 3 years of racing on it and even putting in 3 Sand Hill Ranch Hangover Marathons on it (those races were 1 hour 45 minutes) when I sold it the guy said "hey, you even through on a new rear sprocket". I had to show him the receipt showing him that the sprocket and chain were 3 full years old.

One thing is when I jumped and whipped it, you could actually feel the weight/gyro affect of the rear sprocket. It was heavy but indestructable.

I just got off the phone with the new owner of Sidewinder. Great guy. If was fun talking to him about the old days. So he said that Vic Krause was so very secretive about his pipes and designs and where he got them made, then through out a name and cleared his throat and said "try them". Wink wink I am on it. I know it is going to be outrageous to try to get them to make a one-off pipe for my Suzuki RM125 but worth it. When he said the name I was blown away. No wonder the pipes worked so great.

I also found out what happened to all the back stock of the pipes. Vic Krause had them all at a powder coater getting them powder coated and the entire facility burned down, so all of the pipes were lost. Crazy.

Well off to contact the company about having the pipe made up.

"Vic Krause please check deep in your warehouse. Please."

Vic is out of Sidewinder. He sold and moved on to Florida. Believe the remaining products went to TUF several years ago.

Nope, you can't just do that to us, haha! Gonna have to spill the beans

I had a '84 PE175 that was a total dog and couldn't figure out why. I was probably 13 and really had no clue how to work on a bike. I rebuilt the top end and it still was a slug. I threw a Krause silencer on it and it fucking ripped. The bike was 7yrs old and still had the original stock silencer that must have been totally blown out.
