looks like a fluid bleed fitting, not a gas fiting.

At the risk of hijacking this thread....(I actually think it's apropos)

Why are factory suspension parts so expensive and why are there so few units available? Economies of scale? Build more then! Every year it seems there is a situation like what almost happened with JG33 (he reportedly didn't want to sign with McBrooks because they only had factory parts for Shorty). If you have a guy riding your brand, don't you want to give him the best shot at winning? Like Reed last year. Are you telling me Honda made so few hydraulic clutches, that they couldn't spare one for Reed (I think he ended up getting some of that stuff later in the year)? Were they so expensive that Honda couldn't give him a few sets? I don't get it.
Why wouldn't Honda build enough factory forks to lower the cost and make it available to all the top riders they support? I just can't see there being that much in rare metals or coatings going into a fork. Then again, I don't know shit...which is why I'm asking the question.
Could someone please enlighten me?

My favorite forks from the '90s weren't Jeremy's favorites.
