How is it being a dick when someone points out that there is a non-moto section specifically for topics such as this one?

Well I agree with you on that.

Not a "tradesman" job but working as a commercial loan officer has great perks. You will have $100K months and $0 months so you have to learn to budget and save money. No College degree or license is needed and you work from home most times and you set your own hours.

Many of the larger companies will pay you a salary while you learn and Banking has many holidays and 8-5 hours. My mom did it for 30 years and I am on year 21.

No regrets and it is nice having wealthy clients fly you around for meetings on their dime. The downside is sitting at a desk a lot. It is hard on the body so I do moto to stay in shape.

Good on you though for tapping into the real life experiences of board members to learn from their work experience. We have such a diverse set of people here in terms of employment.

Here in Seattle it booming. Most crains in USA. Need a ton of travelers because not enough man power. Was non union from 88-14 Very crappy job when not union treated like crap, no bennys and low pay most my life.

I'm an aerospace toolmaker/jig and fixture builder which is a skilled trade. Sort of a cross between a quality person using precision measurement equipment, a machinist, and a mechanic. It combines working with computers and your hands at the same time. The short version of the job description is you build and maintain aircraft assembly fixtures. Obviously aircraft are built to pretty tight tolerances so the jigs have to be constantly worked. You can also expand into structure like ship building. It has afforded me a lot of amazing opportunities. I've worked for SpaceX building launch pads for rockets, contracted for NASA helping build their new SLS rocket, and right now I'm working at Lockheed helping build the F-35 stealth fighter. The industry is starving for new blood because no one is picking this industry up anymore. Worth a look if you like that sort of thing.

The reason they never touch a broom is because the general doesn’t want to pay 150 an hour for cleanup!

I didnt read any of the replies bc it's long, but I'm a union electrician. I'd be happy to talk to you and help get you set up.

Best decision I've ever made, for my family and my self.

Then in 10 years apply with a school district or a city. Building maintenance is the way to go. Lots of paid time off, benefits ,union, sick time and you never have to work out of town.

I was first a Residential Carpenter, then an Avionics Tech for an outstanding major airline.

My Advice:. Electrician. Days, doesn't distroy your body, pay, etc etc.

I am finishing up my electrical apprenticeship right now. Pay varies greatly from state to state keep that in mind. It's booming out here in UT so hopefully the pay catches up soon. Lineman are on the road a lot, a good gig if you don't have family. Inside sparkys don't get paid as well but you get to be home every night (usually).
What the average for a sparky in utah. 10 years ago a journeyman wages were what an apprentice pay here in ca. My ex in-laws live in cedar city.

No way I’d do anything like an electrician or lineman. The thought of getting zapped terrifies me.
I was afraid of using jumper cables, I’m a apprentice lineman, if you understand it and respect it you will be fine and make a ton of money

Take a look at the Elevator Constructors.
The type of work performed varies and is similar to many of the previously listed.
One day you can be welding machine beams down and the next be wiring a complex industrial control system.
It consistently rates as one of the number one “blue collar” trades.
There is a comprehensive 4 year apprenticeship program.
The pay and benefits are second to none.
Are you an elevator guy? I just got my mechanic license a few months ago. Its a tough trade to get into but definitely a good one!

At 34, I’m tired of doing tree work. Been thinking of doing something like get a job for the power company or the railroad.
