I've been offered a job which would require moving to Chattanooga. I'm hoping ya'll could tell me what the moto scene is like as far as tracks go. I'm a professional practice rider... Thx. Rick

Tracks in Tennessee are pretty scarce, you have Fast Farms up in Altamont. Most people head down to Alabama, you have Sand Mountain, Monster Mountain, and Mill Creek. Not sure what North Georgia has to offer.

I live in Chattanooga. There is actually 2 tracks in Chattanooga. One (Chattanooga MX) use to be open all the time but now only occasionally. There is also Boyd's Speedway that has been putting a track in their infield this year and holding races.

There a track in Sweetwater TN (WMMX). Another in Dayton, TN (Hillside) that races maybe twice a year. Also Thunder Vally in livingston, TN. Others within an hour include Calhoun in GA, talking Rock in GA. And like the other poster a number in Alabama

Pretty good selection. If your into Hare Scrambles Chattanooga is pretty much the Center of the local SORCS and CXC series.

I have friends in Decatur TN, which is near Chattanooga and the whole MX/HS scene sounds pretty good, no complaints from them.

Lazy River in Dalton, GA is a great track in that area too. The family that owns it also owns Suzuki/Yamaha of Dalton. Great people!

Fannin County MX is also in North GA, about 1.5 hrs east of the Calhoun track. The road it is on (Cut Creek RD) would be an absolute blast on a motard or street bike.

Chattanooga is one of the better outdoor sports towns in the south. World class whitewater rivers, mountain bike trials, great street riding areas and the trials training center where the TKO just happened. TN has no personal income tax. If you told me I had to move somewhere else in the south I would pick Chattanooga without having to think about it.

This guy nailed it. Mclarty is awesome. 3 hours from me and I’ll gladly drive it for a practice day. Fast farms has new owners so it should open up more. Indian Mound is good when open. Sand Mountain is pretty good. I believe R3 is 2.5 hours from Chattanooga? That’s pretty good too!

3.5 hours away from Chattanooga is Monster Mountain and that place is epic!

Sorry for not responding and thanking all for taking the time to help me out. I'm in Chattanooga as I type. I flew in yesterday to visit the Amazon fulfillment center were I've been offered the job and to scout the housing market. I like what I see in the town.

Somebody asked how far I'd be willing to haul. I really don't want to go over 2 hours. I also don't race any longer. As stated previously I'm a professional practice rider. I'm 61 and raced for decades but no longer enjoy it. I typically ride every weekend. I put 100 hours on my bike a year, all moto.

Thanks and anymore feedback is appreciated.

Thanks.

Chattanooga is a great town. If you like BBQ, head over to Sugars and get a rack. Outstanding!
Good Luck.

Living near the Chattanooga area now for the last 5 years, I will say it is one of the best places in the SE, as long as you are ok with driving 2 hours. When I lived in Socal, 2 hours got me to a ton of great tracks, but it was traffic and douche bags. Feel free to DM me. Tons of places to ride!!

Sprew,

I followed your suggestion and had lunch at Sugars before returning home. Good call. The ribs were fantastic. Great scenery from their deck as well. My wife and I liked Chattanooga a bunch. Beautiful, clean city with genuinely friendly people. Laid back. I need to make a decision on the move today and believe I'll be moving to TN...

The Robert’s at SYD are good people, and there’s a plethora of riding and racing options. Sugars ribs is also a huge plus.

I'm retiring in two months and I have been looking for about a year now on where to live as I can't afford to stay here in So Cal. After looking all over the country, Tennessee seems like the best option for low cost of living, taxes etc.. Although the housing market is terrible for buyers right now. All the places I have been looking at for the past year are about 100 grand more now. Tennessee is still reasonable. I just started looking around Chattanooga. Nice to hear there are some good track options not too far away.

Get a trials bike and ride trials training center which isn’t that far away.

Headed up there in a couple weeks for an event. One of the best places to ride
