There’s not much new from the Japanese OEMs Moto lines this year. Next year should be pretty interesting though...

About the 250, for real Michael ? Why kawasaki would do such a poor move ? I mean the new 450 was a great success winning 90% of the shootout and everybody is waiting the new 250 to have the same treatments (just like the 250 Yzf last year or the 250 Crf in 18 and so on). Are they waiting 2021 ?

Gosh i would be so disappointed ! They would lost a customer right here and i bet i won’t be the only one

YZ125 and 250 will get the updated 4 stroke swingarm, a slightly steeper rake, and electric start.

Oh wait that what would make sense to do, I’m sure they’ll just slap some new stickers on it and raise the msrp $300.

My guess would possibly be cost? Lack of R&D time? The makeover the 450 got was extreme last year I'm struggling to think when a modern 450 got that much of a change in 1 year.

My guess would be by 2021 the KX250 will be up to par with the 19 450 while the 2020 KX250 gets SOME of the 450 updates but not all.

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not too sure.

They had to go full bore to get that 450 ready on what I believe to be a year early schedule. The 250 is sticking to the more traditional four year cycle. There are updates coming for 2020, but a lot more for 2021.

Cool... I might still pull the trigger on a left over 19 first. But I really have my 16 working good and I’ve managed to aquire some Factory parts for it so I might still get a left over 18 so I can still use them for another year... decisions decions!! tongue

The F got dropped from both the 450 and 250.

Foot peg mounts are the same. So all aftermarket (Raptor Titanium) footpegs from older model will work.

I'm betting tomac wishes they'd stuck to 4 year cycle for 450 so he of been on his dialed bike this year. Most likely would be leading championship.

Awesome news, yet depressing. Im a kawasaki guy myself, but because kawasaki doesn't make anything XC atm, I'm riding yamahas. Was hoping Kawasaki would give the same updates to the 250 as the 450

Well they used to make the KLX450R but I guess that was more a Enduro type model than XC (I think it had lights, speedo, etc). I dont know how good it was tho.

That’s a very bad news?? You just confirmed what ML said above...I’m truly disappointed as i thought it would be my next bike. Guess i will go to Yami then.

I still don’t understand why they choose to postpone the new 250. It’s a bad move for their sales because the other manufacturers are not waiting and keep updating their bikes ! Who would be crazy enough to buy a bike which didn’t evolve since 2017 ? Also, i think it is the first time a 250 doesn’t follow the 450 treatments the year after.

Anyway, thanks for the info guys

|

4/15/2019 7:54 AM

Well I'm disappointed, was hoping the kx250 would get the 450 treatment. Any word on what is being upgraded on the 2020? Or is it just bng?

Hey ML, how close do you think the 20 Husky 450's will be to the current factory ed bikes? I rode one and fell in love. Now I think I need one, but don't want to pay for the bling.
