Crash on the start....wadded up his bike.
DNF

He held off Reed in the first moto and was going pretty good.
Third moto about 25/30 feet or so out of gate ,it looked like he clipped someone from behind and he went flying and the bike cartwheeled.

taken out on the start, bike totaled.
soar neck, dented ego.

big bummer for racing.

it was almost at the turn in,a long ways from the gate, they were going 50 mphish I'd guess by the height of the bikes while flipping.Like the old loretta start,

the crash in the next straight was worse because of going spear into the face of a large takeoff.I think it was PhillyParts that was layin' there in a scarry lookin' fetal quiver.

Good to see guys going for it for their homeland.

Bummer for Cairoli. He proved in the first moto that he had the speed to smoke our 450 champ from this year.

I wouldn't say he smoked our 450 champ, but he certainly beat him. He is pretty badass, though.

Pretty sure Reed finished 1 second behind him and pulled him at will, but couldn't make the pass...

Wish I was getting smoked like that at my local races!!!!

damn you're being pretty bitter. Im sure cairoli was "just playing with him"by putting himself in a perfect position for a takeout. He beat Reed heads up, but barely. I think we're being very humble here, why can't you? I think Italy had the fastest team this weekend, just had some shitty luck.

He's won the European supercross stuff. You can't really compare it to the AMA though. How cool would it be if Toni went and done the first few rounds of supercross like Pourcel did a few years ago.

You know James Stewart is going over to the Italy Genova Supercross November 28th . Smile
I wonder if Tony will be lining up for that one.

It should also be more like a real SX track, like what we have here in the States.

"Our main objective for 2009 is to offer the highest-level event to all of the fans; for this reason James will find competitive challengers and a real Supercross track, to be raced in 55 second lap time and to be created inside the Genoa International Fair Palasport, one of the largest in Europe, which will be entirely used for the realization of the track, for such a contest only."

I'm going to Italy!

Davis22 You think he's seriously suggesting Cairoli could have checked out? Can you not reed the 'haha' at the end of the post? Sometimes you've got to read between the lines a little.

I watch most GP's and I can't think of Cairoli taking anyone out on the start line so Im not sure why he deserved it yesterday? What I do know is that if you have 30-40 guys all tearing towards a hairpin bend all jostling for position some people are going to get caught up. Thats just racing.

BTW I think it was our guy Mackenzie who came across on him, but again, Im sure he was just trying to get to the corner as quick as he could, just as Toni, or anyone else would do if they thought they had inched infront of the guy next to them.

cairoli said that he was not giving everything and i believe him.. and the face of reed after the race tells everything

AC and Reed had a great battle I don't think any of them could have gone much faster. I was expecting Reed to put a pass and AC to go agressive in front of the fan but it stayed close and clean. Chad was quick to point he hadn't been on the bike for a month though lol. Those two were above the rest of the field. RD was good for his first race but not on the same speed.

Remember AC is riding a 390cc that's maybe why he was struggling to launch on the big jump that Reed and most 450F guys were doing.

And big crash for him at the start can't do anything about it a shame for him and the fans. BTW Pyrohnen broke his leg in the crash...

Cairloi IS known for riding dirty. Reed caught him pretty easily but couldnt get around him. My guess is he was hoping to push Cairoli into a mistake but otherwise was willing to try and beat him in the last moto. He probably figured Cairoli would clean him out if he tried to pass. A 2nd is better then a dnf.
