That bike sounded on point! Great vid. Why do we need a 10,000.00 machine to have fun again.....?

Very cool.
Nice bike, fast rider, not too much slow motion and no music. Yes.

Most excellent. Interesting use of the word "Antique". I know it has been awhile since those came out.....but "Antique"?? BlinkBlink

That was awesome!
This guy is destroying it on an evo bike while every B & C class rider swears he needs the new '17 Super XYZ to be competitive hahaha.

I saw that yesterday. I find it cool to see old-school bikes being ridden with new-school techniques.

Best part about the Vintage and Evo scene is that you have no need to keep replacing your bike every couple years to keep up with the latest and greatest. Upkeep....now that's a whole other story.Laughing I have a 4 grand refresh going on with my 74 CR250 at the moment. Been a long time coming though.

What year is that YZ? 1980, 1981 maybe? It's amazing how well it handled that track, someone watching the rider from far away might not suspect that he was on a vintage bike. But imagine if he was on something just 5 or 6 years older. The difference from a modern bike would have been HUGE. This just shows how quickly and dramatically MX bikes evolved in the 1970's & early 1980's.

X a googolplex... This industry could make an awful lot of money if they started giving consumers what they actually want...

Guess that answers the question whether the riders of today are better than the stars of yesterday. That's a freestyle guy looking more in command of the bike than anyone in the 80s.

Yep....to a degree. Put that rider and bike on a 80's track and I'd wager he'd look just as slow and awkward as everyone else.

In agreement with your statement, I do think riding styles and speeds have evolved and increased.

Next time you post something like that, give me some warning so I can get some tissue ready!
Got some cleaning up to do!

Exactly!, doubt he would have smoked Broc Glover, or Bailey, they rode much rougher unwatered and ungroomed tracks back then, today's riders won't even go out on a unprepped track like that!

79 YZ250. Not sure how much that old frame can take of those kind of laps. My 79 was stretched /fatigued after one good season of Florida moto back when it was new.

I'd venture a guess he has some gold valves in the forks, but it's doubful that old steel frame holds up long without some gussets.

My first big bike was a 1989 RM250. After a couple of years (beginner MX and trail riding) that frame was junk. It would flexed so bad that the head stay pulled up on the cylinder and caused a crack to form at the back of each transfer port, just above the cylinder base nuts.
