Everytime something like this happens I forget to note it/point it out... but I just had to post when I saw this cause of how frustrating it was.
Anybody else screaming at the cameras to go back to Reed when he was charging and passing Friese? Crowd’s going nuts and they’re showing Tomac passing a no name... idk maybe I’m just a Reed fanboy but this isn’t the first time.

The Shop
And show the lap times
And duct tape Ralph's mouth
Reeds best ride in 2 years probably and we miss out on him making a pass for second. Only a heat race, but still. Give us the action that matters.
Youngsters got the old man fired up tonight!
And why are there no camera shots of whatever happened to Savatgy, Lopes and Pettis?
But no, Ralph says 2 laps later "and Reed is up into 2nd place"
During the 250 race they were showing Cantrell and McAdoo (in 10th) lap after lap and I swear they must of thought they were tracking the McElrath/Hampshire battle for 3rd.
Also why don’t they show the battle for the last transfer spot in heats???
Had an Aussie (Ravenhorst) in 9th in 250 heat and they just followed the leader and then cut it after the checkers.. had to wait til the 250 LCQ to find out if he made it or not (he didn’t so there must of been a battle).
Missing the Reed battle was stupid. We can track Tomacs progress on the lap chart or put him in a box down the bottom. Stop missing the great battles Ralph ! (I know he doesn’t control the cameras but he should have input into what’s going on.. I’d expect him to have a pit board and write on it WTF are you idiots doing!?!? Point to Reed now!)
Pit Row
Guess he was busy though.
plus 100 on needing to keep the shots moving. stop hanging on 1 rider soooo long.
ralph and rc. please purchase or steal a riders program and study the bikes teams and riders. why do we know more about your job than you? bet that wouldn't apply the other way around...……...
This! 1000 times this. The production crew have use of picture in picture and they use it a fair bit as well yet for some reason the tv audience will have to put up with viewing a rider all by himself on the last lap and over the finish line when we could be watching battles further down field. Instead it's like "winner's crossed the finish that's it nothing more to see folks, move along"
This isn't a supercross only predicament either, this happens during the nationals and MXGP. A battle will be ensuing for a podium spot or top ten position on the last lap only for the tv director to switch to the leader all by his lonesome and then hold the camera shot of the finish line jump (the wrong bloody side as well). It puts such an anti climatic feel to what is an exciting sport it's infuriating It's the soccer equivalent of a penalty kick about to be struck and the tv director deciding to change camera shot and show the reaction of the crowd rather than the kick. There would be riots if that happened.
Plus would it not be more appealing to potential sponsors if they knew that even sponsoring one of the lower order riders there would still be a good chance of getting their product/s name seen?
If I was the producer I would look at one thing.
Time gap between rider:
+3 Seconds not much happening
+1.5 seconds keep your eye on the battle
+1 second, worth showing on tv (no matter what position they are battling for)
+0.5 keep the camera on them
