Surely getting more wins should get the championship, if only he got 9 more points!

If there was 9 points between the championship , I’m pretty sure tomac would have lined up dude 😅.

They both lined up to race and Eli got more points. Eli toughed it out when he got hurt and could have raced last night if needed. Hes the champ because of all 17 rounds (or in this case 16).

Now he knows how Tomac felt in 2017.

Tomac won by so much he didn’t even have to show up to the last round 😂

It took a couple years for Tomac to figure out the SX championship winning ingredient is consistency. If Anderson would have kept himself out of drama midway through the season we would have had a much better championship fight down the stretch. Maybe he will figure that out going into next season.

Two of my three favorites finished 1-2 in the series.
The one with the most points won the title.

And that's just the way it is.

SX is over.
Time to go Motocross racing.

The mechanical problem in Oakland (I think) and crashing out of Detroit were Jason’s biggest issues this year, not drama with Mookie for a couple of rounds.

They had the same amount of wins didn’t they? And Tomac hit the ground only once while Anderson hit the ground several rounds.

Surely that matters.

Or applies it as soon as this summer and makes a run at the title. I'm more interested to see if he can use this momentum to be a threat for eight months, and not just for four like he tends to.

Perhaps you forgot the middle of the season when they all actually had to try and were still establishing their place in the championship. Nobody had anything for Eli. Was it Detroit where he went from around 10th to 1st, easily passing Anderson for the lead? Anderson finished right where he deserved to finish.

The championship is designed around points accumulated thru the season, not wins. You don't get to change the rules after the season ends.

JA21 had a fantastic season, but he is #2.
ET3 is #1 (IMHO, his SX best season ever)
Looking forward to 2023!

....and RD5 was #1 in 2017.

Consistency wins races, not number of X position.

Anderson didn’t get more wins. They both ended with 7 wins each.

Came here to say, no, he shouldn't. The person with the most points wins a championship.

Anderson caught up in wins due to Tomac dialing it down at the end of the season (knee and long game/big picture)
Otherwise Tomac eats Anderson for lunch. ...and I am not a Tomac fan-boi.

This is one of the stupidest thread I've seen.

This Championship wasnt even close. Nine more points wouldn't have gotten the job done.

The only reason the points look even marginally competitive after last night is because Tomac wrapped it up early, so he got to go on early vacay.

So much wrong with this thread. It was very clear that when Eli was racing near Anderson after Atlanta he was protecting that knee. He tip toed through the corners when JA was near because he knows that the guy will make contact. No need to leave that knee vulnerable to a JA21 aggressive block pass. Would have ended the championship run.
If Eli hadn't gotten hurt, Ando doesn't all of a sudden go on a run like he did. Would have one one or two more but not close out the season with wins. But, Eli did get hurt and it gave Anderson a great opportunity to capitalize just like Eli did mid season on Ando. 2nd best guy got 2nd, no other way to spin it. Now I just need MavTV and I'm golden. 😎

Should have won the lotto but didn’t have enough numbers on the ticket, championship is won over 17 weekends. Race wins don’t mean shit if you get 15th the next weekend, have to be consistent all 17 rounds. I’m definitely a Anderson fan,he turned it around and can’t wait see him outdoors. Clean up his riding and he can win it in 23’

Wait until you hear about James Stewart winning 7 of 11 races (14 of 22 motos) in 2003. Your head is going to spin!!!!
